  • 1995 jackson soloist xl questions

hi im the new one here

i bought a soloist (serial J500xxx) and it has the famous jt580lp floyd.

now i wonder since its built in 1995 - why did they put a jt580lp instead of the schaller copy jt590 on it? were the early 580lp's "good" ?

im curious cause i'll replace it anyway someday. which floyd would suit? the "floyd rose pro" or the original floyd?

i also read the tremolo info project on

which is really useful but now i wonder , is the 580lp route really THAT much bigger than a "normal" floyd route? Oo

    thanks

Gorgeous guitar...I have one in white. And yes...the JT580 is that bad. Mine came with a Schaller Floyd, and I really like it. I've used real OFR, Gotoh, and Schallers, and I find myself gravitating towards the Schallers more and more. I mean, a lot of high end guitars use Schallers, and for good reason. Plus, it seems you can score one off crap-bay a lot easier and cheaper than a OFR.

As far as the routing...I'm not sure...never paid much attention.

      Great guitar, BAD Tremolo.

I'm happy with my Schaller, to me it's as good as a OFR, just my opinion.

Moz... and OFR will fit in there just fine.
Henrik even used a pic of one of my 580lp to OFR conversions on his site to show how much room you will have.

A Floyd Rose Pro will require a few mods if I recall correctly.

I'm no expert, but is it possible someone swapped out the JT590 and put in the JT580LP? How old are the JT580LP's?

Edit: never mind. The route looks like it has angles for the JT580LP.

            ok thanks a lot.
i'll see if the OFR on one of my other guitars fits in the soloist.

i just wondered why the put the 590 (the better one) on the earlier XL's.
i also dont like that theres so much room if i'll put an OFR in it ...anyway thanks for your answers

Well, you should really re-word your question to "why did they put cheaper ones on the newer models?"

              1) Cheaper

              2) Increase profits

              3) Make the MIJ Jacksons less attractive and the USA Jacksons more appealing (higher profit).

              4) ...

              Simple economics.

That is the 580LP and it looks stock by the rout. Probably a late 95 or a 96. IIRC. Wasnt the 580 a techuchi (sp) trem? Ive liked those in the past except for the softness of the screws. Theyre to easy to strip under torgue.
                  Other than that. No issues.
