  • Dont get me wrong, I REALLY like that finish, but that bridge installation is horrible. Thats the only thing I dont like about it.

    • Yeah it's very different, but that's because I absolutely hate floyd rose style bridges. But I wanted to keep the whole through it just to make it look stupid, and that was the only way to install the tune-o-matic and keep the proper scale intonation. Without a recessed tailpiece the string angle was too high allowing them to slip off the saddles, so the only way to lower it was to recess the tailpiece. And I think I explained the reason for the TP-6, I needed tuners there so I could lock the nut and keep it in tune.
The installation isn't horrible, in fact it's excellent. Very sound and it added to the sustain and playability. It is very different, looks stupid, and is not at all for shredders. To make it clear everything about the construction of this guitar (except the lights) has been done professionally by Landau Guitar Company.

nice one. I picked up another one of these recently in Metallic Black for a ridiculous price and have been playing the shit out of it.

                      • Way too much is what I was going for, I can't stand guitars that look stock right off the guitar center wall. But thanks for the compliment on the paint job, I had some friends tell me it needed a good painting, but like I said I don't like "regular" looking guitars. I thought of the broken stone thing instantly, the ...And Justice for All album came to mind, along with that one Whitesnake album cover. I knew a faux paint artist that I've worked with before and sent her some samples. She said she has done a lot of stone patterns and wouldn't have a problem with it, and she got it done in one evening. She is an amazing artist, her name is Peggy Morrow of Faux Artistry, you can look it up on facebook and check out her work.

                        • First Post

Hello all. This is my first post, and my first Jackson Guitar. The best I can figure out is that it is a Soloist Pro, but I don't know how to interpret the Serial. It says J001268. Does that make it a 1990?

This guitar has been used and abused. It's not the original trem. A couple covers have fallen off the tuning machines, it is scratched all over the place, like someone scraped off stickers with something hard and plastic. It's also been refretted. However, the pickups and mid boost (?) seem to be intact.

I traded a '68 Fender Champ for it.

Clearly someone has rewired this, the solder job looks worse than even mine which isn't saying much.

Anyways, I will replace the trem with a GOTOH FR probably, this is my first FR guitar, and I've only been playing for about a year.
