Stock Jackson pups can be bad, but really, not THAT bad.
Check the wiring...the upgrade kit is good whether you stick with the stock pups, or upgrade.

I was ready to change out mine until I changed the pots, cap, and wiring.
It opened it up enough to stay with it.
    YMMV

        I saw that, then forgot.

You shouldn't have any problem with those.
        Something isn't right.

Not to burst any bubbles, and I am FAR from a guitar god (a drummer that fiddles on guitar), but I was playing a few DK2's and DK2M's, along with an archtop Jackson, at my local guitar shop the other day...I was not impressed!

For $649+ (US Dollars) the three guitars I tried all felt like I was playing a baseball bat for a neck, and two of three lost their volume knobs while I was playing them. Seems to me that the quality of the new Jacksons is very poor.

I do, however, wish you all the best with yours!! Maybe I just got into a batch of bad ones?

Some people prefer a baseball bat neck - I believe the PC1 comes with one, and that's the best production guitar around apparently.
And are you saying the volume knob actually fell off when you were playing? It's an easy fix but seems a bit odd!

Have you ever played it through an amp? I use Toneport myself and it's obviously not as nice sounding as a real amp. You don't get the natural sound of the guitar which, funnily enough, is your problem....
Pretty much any guitar I use with Toneport sounds good, no matter what the pickups, from stock Epiphone ones to Seymour Duncans. But through a proper amp you can clearly tell the difference.

Baseball bat neck? They're pretty thin compared to alot ofother guitars out there.

Volume knob falling out can be eaily fixed with a small screw driver or tiny allen wrench. That stuff will happen to any guitar over time, especially floor models! You shoudnt judge Jackson by that! It's like saying a guitar is bad just because the strings are worn out lol

Like I said, I may have gotten into a bad batch.

But yes, I have an old Series 10 Charvel-wannabe that plays much better than the new Jackson's I tried out...not to mention it wasn't nearly as nice as my buddy's Charvel Model 3.

I was actually thinking about getting a DK2M until I tried them...just didn't feel good to me. And yes, the knobs were falling off...I realize that you just need to tighten the set screw to re-attach, and they were floor models, but I have seen guitars go years and years with no issues like that. Just seems that quality control isn't there for Jackson anymore...at least with the 3 I played.

You played three, on two the volume knob fell off. What was wrong with the other one, quality wise? I've never played a DK2 but it seems you're being pretty down on a range of guitars you only played for a wee bit in a shop.

Wow...was it at a Guitar Center by any chance?
                          I have a DKMGT...and a PS4.
Not high end by any means, but still superior in bang for the buck compared to any ESP, Shechter,Fender etc in the same price range.

Yep, a Guitar Center, so I completely understand they have probably been beaten by every 13-year-old in the state So the volume knob thing is no biggy.

And, like I said, all three of the Jacksons I played that day felt "big" and "slow" if that makes any sense? Just not "fluid" or "easy" like a Model series Charvel.

So, maybe I got into some bad ones...and yes, they are GC floor models...maybe they are a much better guitar than I experienced. But the original poster is having a quality-control issue with his, too, so thought I'd back him up a bit.

I don't think you offended anyone, but you have to bear in mind the OP is playing a guitar into a computer and doesn't think it sounds very organic....
