That job on there is amazing, not to my taste, but still looks sweet.

Anyways got an update, the locking nut is now fixed

Had to use a fatter screw head, jacksons ones let it rock side to side to much in the hole.....

    So thats that problem sorted.

But i did round of the locking nut bolt, so im pretty annoyed by that.

    Ohwell :ROTF:

Even more great news, the guitar plays superb, the guitar sounds superb, clean and distortion. that locking nut at the top was the cause of all the problems.

Alittle annoyed that i had to work on the guitar myself to get it sounding how it should.

Bit of a bummer that you had to fix the nut yourself, you finally got the guitar sounding great.
Told you the JB was an awesome pickup!

Yep, your first guitar with a great pickup like the JB is a great experience. I was the same when I got my SL3. Jacksons DONT suck after all eh?!

As for the Jazz being crap...well, as far as I know Dimebag used one. So did Randy Rhodes (I jest! Randy Rhoads!) and Dave Mustaine. I have one, and I never noticed it being too underpowered in particular - try adjusting the height closer to the strings.

I DO though prefer the Duncan '59 neck pickup, it has more character, and more sustain than the Jazz, it fucking rocks in my Epi Black Beauty.
But the Jazz is used by plenty metal guys so they're clearly hearing something there.

Dime used a '59 for his neck pup. Though, the Jazz is also a great pup, it's just brighter and cleaner sounding.

That makes sense to me, cos, like I say I prefer the '59 myself! I'm sure I read somewhere that Dime used a Jazz neck model though. Never mind, Dave Mustaine and Randy certainly did - point is, it IS a good pickup even for metal but like all pickups it comes down to personal preference.
                Some like it, some don't.

If you don't like it, whip it out, stick it on ebay (it'll fetch a great price on ebay in the UK) and buy something else. Like a 59. Good thing with Duncans is they hold their value.

It's good to hear that the problems are fixed now. I agree with MartinBarre1, getting a guitar with good pickups for the first time is great. I had the experience a couple of months ago now when I bought my DK2M. Oddly enough, I thought the opposite about the pickups, I loved the Jazz but wasn't quite so pleased with the JB. Now, though, it's grown on me and I love them both.

Glad to hear you got it all worked out. I had a DK2M for some time and truly loved the sound. I had to sell it when I got my DK1 though.

Just curious, what did you do to fix the nut?

I used some wood, shoved it in the holes, always a good thing :ROTF:

Then it got messy, ended up with some super sticky stuff like glue....

Waited another 48 hours before my next move.....

Drilled the holes in the right place this time...

Found some bigger screws that fitted the locking nut properly.

Put it all together, re-strung. and its a beaST
