  • JT 580 replace a JT 580 low profile?

I bought a JT 580 off ebay to put in my KE3, but it's not a low profile model. The one in the KE3 IS a lo-pro one. Will the non lo-pro type fit straight in?

I'm looking at the auction and the photo the guy posted is a low profile one, so seems like he's misled me....

I don't mind it not being low profile, as long as it will fit!

I don't even think this thing he's sent me IS a JT580. It looks nothing like any of the ones I have - it looks more like the trem on my JDR 94 Concept but has a different arm fitting. It's Jackson branded, but not low profile, has no writing along the side around the fine tuners.

Is this a JT500? Is it a decent trem or a piece of crap? Should I be pissed that he's sent me something other than he said he would?
If I have to return this to the USA he probably wont give me a refund until he gets it back - at this time of year I'm looking at three weeks maybe just to get a refund, then I need to find a REAL JT580 and wait on that being posted!
Christ on a fucking bike man!

Can you get a better picture of where it says Jackson?

Are there any markings on it anywhere?

Edit: Clearly not the low-pro in the auction. I'd tell him to eat the shipping charges and send what was pictured in the auction of give him a big fat NEGATIVE.

It seems to be a genuine Jackson.

            My main questions here are:

What is it he's sent me?
Will it fit straight into a KE3?
Is it comparable in quality to a JT580?

              That is a JT-580.
It should fit in the JT-580LP route just fine.
But yea... what he sent you and what was pictured in the auction are different.

Cool, that sounds okay. Thanks for replying. As long as it fits I don't mind the fact that it's not low profile. I quite like the higher one in my Concept anyway.

SO can anyone tell me if the JT580 in my pic is of comparable quality to the JT580 LP?
I don't want to install it, only to find out a couple of months later it's a piece of crap and have to buy something else.

I'd say they are about the same.

The issue with quality is the knife edge blade. The base plate appears to be the same style / design on the JT580 and JT580LP, so they would be the same overall quality (not sure if that's good or not).

I think the main difference between the two are the saddles. The plate would be shaped differently also because you no longer have locking bolt sticking out the back.

Thanks Don, sounds like it'll do me.
The guy's not replied to my emails yet - if he's just sent me the wrong one, I'd rather have the one in his photo (the low pro one). Maybe it's just a genuine mistake, I expect him to reply at least.

Yeah the trems are about equal if you have the Takeushi 580, which it should be.
I have dealt with Davesguitardeals before, andit sometimes takes him a little bit to get back to you cause he's usually busy, but i'm sure he'll reply.
He probably got the trems mixed up, so tha would explain the one he sent you. He seems to know a good bit about Jacksons, so he knows what he's selling. He might have mislabeled the box or something?

Either way, as long as it fits, you should be pleased with the quality.
I have a Satin Silver JT-580 LoPro (Takeushi)and it has been very good to me.
Now is the time for some TLC for that 580, so I'd definitely use some 3in1 oil on the saddles and some grease on the knife edges if you plan on keeping it.

Thanks for the info! I'm trying to be patient with the guy - I noticed he has like 4 negative feedbacks and they say things like "sent me wrong/damaged item, ignored my emails", so it's made me a bit paranoid.
I don't know what Takeushi is, but I have JT580 LPs on both my SL3 and RR3 (and for the moment the KE3) and I'm perfectly happy with them, which was why I wanted to swap the chrome just for another JT580 but in black.

                            You mean Takeuchi right.

Yes, the Takeuchi 580's are great trems.
The "Takeuchi" logo will be stamped on the underside of the base plate and/or on the spring block.
