JT 580 replace a JT 580 low profile?

Then you have a newer, slightly lower quality JT-580
I know that atleast up until 1999 the JT-580's were made in Japan by Takeuchi. I'm willing to bet that the '00 and '01's (pre-fenders) also had them.
Maybe someone could chime in and say when the last year was.
(my '08 DK2 isn't a Takeuchi)
Either way Martin, if you clean it and lube it up nice, it will treat you good and last a while. It's not a piece of shit by any means, so rest easy.'Howling in shadows

I'd still like to hear what the guy who sold me it has to say though.

Okay, for future reference, if anyone else ever has this same issue -
IT DOESN'T FIT.
I just tried it. The baseplate hits off the body, it must be a couple of millimetres wider than the 580 LP.
And the guy still hasn't replied to me. So I've got a trem that's useless to me and now need to get money from somewhere to buy another one then wait on that arriving. This sucks.
I'll give the guy a couple of days to respond, but if he doesn't I'll have to sell this thing on ebay UK and try to recoup my money.

Okay I got a reply from the guy, what do you think of this shit:
"Steven,
Sorry, you obviously don't know what you are talking about. This came out of a Jackson RR3 guitar, please check there website for details. You probably need a different trem. There are different versions of this trem out there, some don't taper in. That is probably your problem. Not my issue though. Sorry that it doesn't work. You will need to sell it to get your money back, since I don't give refunds for items that our advertised correctly.
David"
What he sent me is NOT what is in the photo. And do RR3's come with anything other than a low profile trem? What a complete asshole.

Damn that sucks that he's being that way with you, cause I never once had a problem. But thats how it is sometimes. soe people are ok, and others are not.
Here's what I'd do:
Since you didnt get what you paid for, file a dispute.
He obviously didnt send the right part that you paid for, so it's "not up to you to sell it and get your money back"
It's HIS job as the seller to provide you the goods that you paid for.
Sure there are variances in the JT580's but it sure in the hell doesnt help you that he sent you the wrong one, and that he's not helping you out, especially since I'm assuming that you were nice to him in your emails? We all know that you were patient anyway.
So yeah, thats what I'd do.
Best of luck man!'Howling in shadows

Damn right man.
But if you really dont wanna go through the hassle (which I dont blame you), offer it up for sale here, cause someone will want it, and try to find another. There's plenty to be found that's for sure. This time try to find a Takeuchi made one.
If you didnt need it so bad, it would be worth it just cause he's being a dickhead to you.'Howling in shadows

Thanks for the support guys.
I've put it up for sale on UK ebay. I don't want him to offer a refund, because that means me sending it back to the USA and it might go missing in the post or something.
I'll try and sell it, then buy the right one from someone else. What a big pain in the ass.
The worst thing is, he seems to think he really did send me a low profile trem, and is completely ignoring the photos I sent him showing he didn't.

So, what you do is give him a neg, then in your ebay listing you can say the only reason for selling it is the guy sent the wrong one and wont take it back. Then you can add a link for the previous auction and people can see for themselves that the guy was a douche.

And Martin, I would probably do the same thing you are doing, because WAY less things can go wrong you know.
