Import Jackson/Charvel Serializing

Is there any info on serial number tracking on non-usa jackson or charvels out there? I know this relates to my last thread, with many thanks to those who responded. I have 2 jacksons and a charvel cx 390, just curious on dates and origin. it seems us stuff is easily tracked , but other guitars , not so much. thanks

The old charvel neck thrus can be dated by the serial number the first digit is the year. the rest of the model series pretty sure there is on the options on the guitar that will help.
Jackson imports depends on the year but the first one or two digits tells the year up until 96 ish then it's back to the options and some board members have kept their own data base estimates.

Actually neckthrough Charvels started with C0 in 1986, so you can't use that formula. It's true for import Jacksons, though - J0 = 1990.

For bolt-ons, Rich is correct. Up until about mid-1996 the serials were based on the year - 000123 would be 1990, 600123 would be 1996.

Note that's only for models with the serial on the neckplate. They used stickers on the back of the head for a while in the mid 90s that were Jxxxxxx format, and they started at 0.

my serial # on my jackson rr3 is 9692369 what yr is it?? 96?

Could be anytime between 97 and 99. When they went to the "96" serials in 1996, they added one digit to the end in 1997, thus making it a 7-digit serial. It's been that way ever since, though I think there were a few Japanese-made models that had 8-digit 96 and 97 serials in 1998.

Any bolt on over 8 digits was made in India.

my 550XL starts with C9...... so that would be consistent
