  • Just purchased 1990 MIJ Rhoads Professional

Hey.. Been doing alot of research but can't really get a solid idea or answer so I thought I'd check the best place...Here at JCF. I just bought a 1990 Made in Japan Rhoads Professional in excellent condition for $720. Did I get a good deal or raked over the coals. From what Ive read, the 90-95 MIJ Pro series are some of the best and hardest to find Jackson models. Any info would be appreciated. Thanx

On a side note.. I may be looking into getting a Morton Dominion. Has anybody played this model and if so, how does it play...neck, craftsmanship, top, etc. Is it worth the money? Cheerz and thanx

    Welcome!

I'm pretty sure you got a good deal. Those things are apparently as good as US models. They had the same specs and were of high quality.

From what I've heard, Mortons are great. I let people who own them fill you in on them.

      Welcome home.

From what I've heard, the Pro series rivals-and in some cases, surpasses-USA models. But post some pics man! I wanna see it!
As far as I'm concerned he can stay with Dean and play his dots+fins KV copies, and whatever that aborted fetus he "designed". More like "I saw it in my puke". -Newc

Welcome to the JCF. This'll get you started on your Dominion research:

A search for "Dominion" will find more comments from owners, all of which have been positive, if memory serves.
I bought one of the first batch and loved it. I did sell it, but that was only because I had to in order to get my "grail." If not for that, I'd have held tight to my Dominion.

If its the neckthrough "Rhoads pro" with the sharkies and ebony, etc... then you got a decent deal. If its just the standard neckthrough model with dots and rosewood then you might have paid top dollar. If its the ex model then you paid 3x too much.

Yes, it is the neck thru with MOP sharkfin inlays, ebony board, Schaller JT-590 Tremolo, Blank Truss Rod cover (which was til '93) and Jackson Professional on headstock.

Just reviving this thread cos im curious as to why some of the Jacksons from that "Pro" era have the gold plated hardware on them and others dont (ie bridge, locking nuts, tuners etc), or was it just certain production runs or options at the time ??

Nice Pro too dude. The gold look adds a little class as well.
I dont get scared but i do get shocked!!
