  • Just Bought A Kelly

Hi all, Just picked up a Kelly professional STD sin# J004417. $180.00 From E-bay. Its in pretty rough shape but i can make it look new again. Is 95' close for the year of this guitar? What would this guitar retail for back then?

... as straycat said, the S/N J0***** would belong to a Kelly PRO (neckthru) and would be a 1990 model (the first digit "0" = 1990).

Kelly Std retailed for $ 795; Kelly PRO: $ 1.595

      Pics will help !

The professional series and the pro series are two different things. I know that can be confusing.
The PRO series were all neck thru with ebony boards and MOP shark fin inlays.
        Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Are you sure about that straycat? I have a Kelly Std and I don't think it has a neckplate. It's not with me (and is currently in pieces waiting to be cleaned up), so I can't say for sure, but I don't remember taking a neck plate off.

The serial on mine also starts with a J.

Oh, and according to the stamp in the pocket, it's a '94.

The old Kellys didn't have neck plates. My old Standard didn't, and neither did my XLR.

That would be a 93 or 94 STD. I have the same guitar with a s/n close to yours. And yes, Kelly STD don't have neck plates.

Right on! I thinking of following the Jackson Lucky 13 (custom shop) theme. I can hit the pin striping theme. Plus the gold leaf! have some work to show!!!!! Let me know what you think!!!?????
