  • Got a good deal on a Jackson Concept JDR-94

I got a good deal on a Jackson Concept JDR-94 (Japan).
It is a great axe sounds really good (even with stock pickups, and they are quite old)and it is very confy to play.
I m not a big fan of the push in whammy bars (I favor the ones with a floting screw) but it is not bad at all in fact it holds better than my Ibanez Rg series whammy bar that is new!

Does anyone have some interesting info on these guitars?
I bought it thinking it woud be like a PS-4 but I like these a little better (can't say why really, I just do )

Did anyone out there change the mics on this guitars? If so what did you stike gold with ?

    Thanks to all!

    It's a cheap JT-500 trem.
The trem arm on those is not a push in, it's supposed to be a screw in.
Someone may have swapped out the arm socket.

Drop $15-$20 on a Schaller arm and collar. They fit perfectly on the JT-500.

But I do agree with you... the JDR-94 is a great guitar for the money.

If you are going to change it. Change it for a JT 580 or something of the sort ! They are supposed to be better.

I've got a black one, it's a fantastic guitar for the price I paid - I'd say it's probably on a par with the DK2M I just got.

I didn't like the stock pickups myself. When you say "Did anyone out there change the mics on this guitars" I presume you mean the pickups?

I put a Bill Lawrence USA 500XL in the bridge (stunning pickup, really is, Dimebag tones are easy with this thing, good for down tuned death metal riffage too), and a Seymour Duncan Alnico 2 Pro in the neck which works well. I left the middle single coil since it works very well with the two humbuckers I put in.

If you're interested, this was done with my JDR-94:

Like I say, this guitar is on a par with the DK2M probably, apart from the inferior trem.

580.. better than a schaller besides being wrong!! you will not have full use with a 580.

I think he just meant the 580 is better than the 500.
What do you mean "you will not have full use with a 580"?
And see if a 500 has the trem arm and collar missing, like this one:

can I replace them with one from a 580?

you will not be able to pull with the 580..and collar is bigger on the 580 than the 500 or the schaller.Might not work at all? Depends on the route of the jdr-94.

The base plate is also bigger.

Cool John, I was actually thinking of that ebay trem for a DK2, rather than my JDR, but you've given me good info for both guitars here.

                        I thought that you could fit a JT580 on a JDR 94. Probably I was wrong !

They came with a JT-500, but the closer I look at the pics, it looks like this one has an old school JT-580 with the longer string lock bolts.

Not sure if it is a mod or a fluke as that trem should not be on that guitar.

Yes it looks weird, I think its the bridge is not setting level? because a 580, will not work on a ps-4? So at the risk of sounding like a know it all asshole, it should not work on a jdr-94? Right?

It's hard to tell, and my JDR is away in a case under the bed just now, but I'm amost certain mine has the same trem as that.
The trem bar is a screw in (like a Fender strat bar).
