  • Strange Jackson ID help

My brother found this on Craigslist in AZ. The girl that is selling it sent him these photos. I don't think it is a Jackson but wanted to see what you guys thought about it. It almost looks like a Surfcaster with a JJ headstock.
    Thanks in advance.

Does this say made in China?

    Nothing on the plate

    Just one more guitar!

Could be one of those crappy knock offs.
I'm not aware of any Jacksons ever being made in China.

I vote for Chinese knock-off. AFAIK no Jackson was ever made in China, and no Jackson ever had a Surfcaster body. The tuners don't look like any I've seen on a Jackson either.

There were both Jackson and Charvel Surfcasters. This one just looks like a fake.

            The OC1, made in 96.

Thanks for the info guys. My brother doesn't know mush about guitars so he came to me about it. I was 99% sure it was some type of knock-off but wanted another opinion. The "Made in China" should have made my 100% sure.
My brother is a tattoo artist and they wanted to trade the guitar for some art work.

Hm, you learn something new every day. I would've thought that would be lawsuit bait.

Lawsuit bait for what? There have been both Jackson and Charvel-branded Surfcasters, Scott Ian used to play them. Hell, there's the SC1, and three of them are shown in the '99 catalog.

Yeah, I always liked those with the maple board. Hmmm, 24 frets.

Wonder how that head would look on a Warrior body.....

Wow, I always thought the Surfcaster was a Fender creation, but Wikipedia says it's Charvel. Two new things in one thread!
