  • New guitar day, total impulse buy!

I still really can't believe it myself, because I didn't expect to ever find one of these, let alone decide to buy it after 5 seconds of playing it... it's quite an unusual choice for me, too. Never had a floyd before!

Without further blabbering, here come the pics!

It's a Sam Ash Limited Edition Soloist... they call it the SL2H, but IMO it is like an SL2H crossed with a Soloist Archtop Pro.

I found it in the local FMIC outlet store; actually I just wanted to buy a midi cable there, but you know how it goes.
The unplugged sound is so resonant and brilliant that I instantly fell in love on playing the first note, and damn it plays like butter.
It is set up with four springs on the trem, so it feels stiffer... just that little something that made me feel more at home on this trem than ever before, as I'm so used to the feel of my string-thru Jacksons.

It has two flaws, a little ding on the upper part of the body, and a low 19th fret that only affected the high e string. Somehow visible when you look for it, but doesn't really show in the photo:

I told the store guy (who is a big Jackson fan too) about it and he immediately called Fender for a partial refund as he hadn't noticed that himself.
A little setup made that playable too, action is still very good.
Nevertheless I then got another 10% discount on the price which is exactly the amount I'll have to pay for a full fretjob.

All in all it cost me about 2/3 the money for a new SL3... I just couldn't pass that one up!

BTW, does anybody know about the Duncan pickups in these?
Bridge is a JB for sure (and has to go, I only like them in mahogany guitars), but the neck I'm not sure about. I expected a '59, but it sounds kind of different to how I'm used to those... maybe a Jazz?

Mazz, these came out last year IIRC.

            Are you Dave Mazzaferro?

Nope, I'm just a total noob who is hoping to get their first Jackson this month, That's why I'm not so knowledgable on Jacksons.

                          Very cool.
Yes, if not black, then blue.

Mine is just a lowly PS4, but it looks great.

Thanks all! I still can't take my eyes of her...

Found an old thread, so apparently pickups are JB and '59... interesting. The '59 sounds better in this guitar than in my others, will be kept.
The JB is not bad in this one (not as bad as in my basswood DKMGT), but not overwhelming either. I only really like the JB in my mahogany NASL... I'll probably get a Custom for the new one.

I'd hate to be grave diggin', forgive me. But it would be much easier and quicker to post a reply here than to make a new thread, because I'm not sure if everyone is familiar with this model or not.

I own one of these, and was wondering what kind of comparison is there to the USA made Sl2h? I hav'nt found a USA Sl2h at a store yet(I live in a smaller city). Yes, so if you can, how do these differ in playability, quality and sound to that of the USA made SL2h's.

                              Thank you dear sirs-
