I own one of these, and was wondering what kind of comparison is there to the USA made Sl2h? I hav'nt found a USA Sl2h at a store yet(I live in a smaller city). Yes, so if you can, how do these differ in playability, quality and sound to that of the USA made SL2h's.

    Thank you dear sirs-
They are about 2/3rds the quality of a USA Jackson.

They are missing the ebony fretboard and real MOP inlays. Not bad guitars at all, but not USA Jackson. You want the best, you pay for it.

My local Sam Ash has them for $799, and work your way down from there.

I thought the neck pickup in these guitars was a Jazz Neck pickup. I agree too with replacing the JB pickup. I never liked the sound of it in my Floyd'd guitars, but in my Les Paul it kicks ASS. Try a Duncan distortion, preferably the Trembucker version. I have one in my Jackson DK and it rules!

Gibson: 1978 Les Paul Spl Dbl Cut
      1992 LP Studio 'Lite'

Playability is definitely on par with USA Jacksons (at least with all I have tried so far), the original floyd seems to be the key here.

Quality: well I have heard enough stories about quality issues with USA select and custom Jacksons, so with the low fret and a ding being the only issue, that's pretty nice for B stock in my book.

Sound: Well I would need a side by side comparison to judge if a USA Jackson sounds better... judging by the unplugged sound there's not much left to be desired.

I still haven't come around to get a new bridge pickup or fix the fret issue, I just love playing it way too much.

          jrnic, thanks for the recommendations.
I already put the Duncan Distortion in many of my Jacksons (including my Soloist Archtop Pro) and agree that it kicks ass, but I thought I'd open up the field a bit. So far only my two string-thru JacksonStars Rhoads guitars are equipped with the Custom, so I'd like to try how it sounds in a floyded alder Soloist.
The Custom is just such a nice allrounder, love it especially for leads, and that's where the Soloist really shines. I find myself jamming on rhythms and midriff I suddenly go into lead mode, because the guitar just seems to beg for it - and I'm happy to oblige!

Chances are it's probably the Jazz in the neck. It seems that the JB and Jazz are about the most common combination of pups. Very nice guitar and great find!!

I'd go totally insane with that one and put a set of Dimarzio EJ Customs in there for a stratosonic vibe

Yes, if not black, then blue.

Mine is just a lowly PS4, but it looks great.
my "lowly" PS-4 plays as good as my kelly pro, and has a thinner faster necks

I thought quality was workmanship, not features. As far as I'm concerned, there's no USA/Japan quality differences in the higher end guitars that aren't rushed.
