  • After 20 guitars, finally got a Jackson

Howdy all. After about 3 years of buying/selling/trading mostly in the Ibanez, Epiphone, ESP, and Fender arenas, I finally landed a Jackson. It's a DK2 eerie dess, as you can see.

I'm an obsessive modder, and this one had the ugly chrome hardware so I had to switch em to black. Added a pickup cover over the humb and swapped the middle single for a Duncan Scorcher (can't stand that scoil hum). Blocked the trem, added some abalone knobs and a set of black beauties and and she's good to go. Me likey!!

      Looks real nice!
I have one just like it, and love it.

Seems like your trem is blocked too low... the base plate should be parallel with the body.

It may just be the picture looks that way.

Anyway... congrats! I think you'll love it.

      These are sweet players!

Looks nice. The abalone knobs really blend in with the swirl.

I'm just curious why you bought a Floyded guitar if you're going to block it anyway.

Yeah I'd rather it was a non-trem but this was a good deal so just had to block it. Can always unblock later.

Yes it is blocked pretty low, but I did that to get the action lower. Usually I don't need to go so low. I'm no expert on setups, but can eventually get them to a pretty playable state.

If you're going to sell that, make sure to ask anyone in JCF if they want it First!

we'd be bummed if this website lost that beauty!

Nice, I had that exact model a while ago. That one has a real nice swirl to it.

Layer on the paint then lay down some Saran Wrap while it's wet, then twist it off.

What did you do with the chrome hardware? And where did you get those abalone knobs? Those look killer.

I sold the chrome parts on Ebay, parts always sell on there. Helps defray the cost of the stuff I had to buy. As for the knobs, I'm not sure. I've bought so many new knobs over the last 3 years. I just had these sitting in a bag (took em off a black guitar a while back) and found they matched up pretty nice.

Actually I think I got them from this guy.
