serial # newbie.

sorry for not knowing much about serial numbers but i want to know which number actually indicates the year the guitar was built?

the full serial is 9729861

hopefully one of you experienced fellows can teach me something about reading serials.

7 digits starting with a 9 = Made In Japan bolt-on after 1996-7.

I can't find my chart, but 972xxxx seems like around 2005-6, IIRC.

thank you, you have been very helpful. i bought the guitar in 06 for 175 bucks and not much info on when he bought it or how long he's had it came with it. so its good to know the year.
