Help me decide on a hardtail

That's exactly my plan. So much more comfortable to play than the string-thru's. I sometimes get pain in the outer part of my palm (ulnar nerve) so I think the blocked FR will work best for me (at least for the guitars I've seen so far in my price range). I just didn't realize that the neck angle was so dramatic on the Jackson hardtails, some of the other brands I tried were more traditional.

Well I own 3 DXMGTs, 2 SLSMGs, a DKMGT, and a SLATQH. I really think the DXMGTs are an absolute unbeatable bang for the buck guitar. I have also owned an SL1 and a DK1. I think the hardtailed Jacksons have a better sustain and attack than the floyd equipped models. Just my oppinion though so please don't flame me. Here are a few pictures of my hardtails.

Unless the bridges on the other guitars you have tried were recessed( Carvin and warmoth are the only ones I have seen do this) the the neck angle should be the same. You may want to look at a v-trem. The lower end jackson have them and you can tighten the trem screws in and add more springs so the trem sits flat and won't move.

Carvin was one, Ibby's got an RG hardtail with a traditional fixed bridge (not TOM), and a USA Charvel I looked at had the same basic fixed bridge. They all had a less pronounced neck angle than the Jacksons I played.

I'm hoping to be able to try a few more this weekend.

I switched to playing a Music Man Axis about a year ago, and I really love the neck on that guitar, so if I can't find a comfortable import than I may just pickup another Axis and go from there. The Floyd bridges on the Axis are dive-only, so it's like a built-in tremel-no My only issue would be using fat strings with MM's medium frets and narrow neck.... the fret size bothers me more.

Curious if the hard case that comes with DKMGT would work with my DK2M even though the heads go in opposite directions...

Anyway, looking to find a new DKMGT to test to see if would be a good change up from my DK2M. Want something fixed bridge, active EMGs but would prefer ebony/maple over rosewood...

Best model you'll find for Blues and such IMO is the Dominion.

totally agree , hands down the dominion is a killer guitar.
