Why would you raise hell about buying that guitar? He clearly states that it was made in Japan and is definitely not a USA made soloist in his auction description.
Here is a quote from the acution: "This PRO Guitar was made in 1990 in Japan. S/N J000036. This Guitar is in great shape and is very close to a USA made Soloist."
If you bought it thinking that it was an SL1 USA made soloist, I'd lay the blame for thinking that squarely on your shoulders. If I was the seller, I would feel no obligation to appease you in any way about the sale of this guitar to you because you felt you might have been cheated (which you were not at that price).
It is the buyer's responsibility to research their potential purchases. That is completely my opinion, but there is no way you can sway me from it.

The internet is a wonderful thing.
Nope, no hellraising here! The ad stated the guitar is an SL1 which never existed from Japan! My lack of knowledge on the product is to blame. Now that I know more about the model I am just fine with what it is and what I paid for it. It's all good and I can not wait for it to get here!

The OP had already acknowledged their mistake earlier in the thread. This is just piling on.
And I am still not clear what the difference is between a MIJ Soloist Pro and an American made SL1 from 1990. It appears that the country of origin is the only difference??????

Basically, that's correct. The Soloist Pro was made in Japan to the exact same specifications as a 1990 USA Soloist. Same hardware, woods, body shaping, quartersawn neck, etc. These specifications differ slightly from the SL-1 Soloist of today, but not that much. For your info, the SL-1 designation came into being in 1996, which is when the USA Soloist achieved its current configuration with an Original Floyd Rose and Seymour Duncan pickups. A standard 1990 USA Soloist would be almost indistinguishable from your Pro.
Some people say that the Pros and the USA Soloists were of equal quality, some say the USA guitars were slightly better. However, my observation over the years has been that individual examples of both the Japanese and USA guitars of that era vary a lot, so you can't really make a blanket statement like that. Each instrument is different. It *is* safe to say that the early (1990-91) Pro guitars are substantially better quality than current Japanese Jacksons. Jackson has cut corners on the Japanese guitars in recent years to keep costs down and further differentiate them from the USA guitars.
