well i recently swapped the bridge pickup for a Duncan Custom (sh-5) and am very happy with that. the last thing i can think of doing to upgrade my DK2M is a original floyd rose.. im a sucker for having the best parts on guitars, but in this case i have the tremolo blocked so it can only divebomb (not go up). Is it even worth it in this case? i may eventually bring it back to full tremolo, but for now i like it halfway blocked. what are your guys opinion on leaving the 580 in there or upgrading to the original floyd?

so keeping it blocked as i do right now wouldn't really justify the upgrade? i have played with originals before on my ESP MII and noticed the quality and tuning difference.. With my jackson, havin the trem partially blocked has gave me no tuning issues at all though. So im just torn if i do it or not. Warmoth.com which is local to me has the black w/ r4 nut for $180 new.

If you never want to do trem pull-ups anyway... I don't see how having the trem half blocked should influence your decision re: whether to upgrade to a real Floyd. Plenty of players who use OFRs have theirs half blocked too.
I say do it. I made similar upgrades to my Yamaha super strat, and I am very happy with the results. (upgrades were: massive jumbo frets + set of Air Classic pickups + Ping OFR with big brass block) Sounds way better, and plays way better.
Yes, the cost is not trivial, but the results are more than worth it to me. The Yamaha has never given me any kind of trouble, but the Yamaha is special to me, and I wanted to outfit it with the best parts (for what I want to do with it)
So if you want to upgrade, and can afford it, I don't see why not
The original OFR is always cool, you might also want to look into the ones made by Ping with brass sustain block. (the only licensed trem to carry the official Floyd Rose logo)

My Stock trem works fine as well. For the record...I also own OFR equipped guitars. Plus some Ibanez edge series trems. Performance and durability are comparable. I have replaced the trem arm with an OFR bar and holder on the DK2M (direct swap). But not because it was broken or worn...I just like the OFR bar better.
Oh yeah...I bought the guitar with the intent of changing the trem out for an OFR....but there has been no need.sigpic

I have dk2ms with stock bridge and ofr. Tuning stability is almost the same slight edge to ofr. Fine tuners are better on ofr,a lot better to me. If you play out I would suggest getting the upgrade ,I do and I feel better with it .Might be in my head but I know im good with the ofr. If you dont play out leave it cause its close enough to get by .mho.
