  • Replacing an RR3 with a DK2M? Thoughts?

I've had my RR3 for a few years now, had custom parts made for it by Dave and put Seymour Duncan Blackouts in it. But I still don't love it the way I love my SL3 or Epi Black Beauty. It sits on a stand next to the SL3 and I find myself looking at the SL3 thinking "Man that's one fucking awesome looking guitar" and wanting to play it. The RR3 doesn't really do anything for me. It plays okay and sounds okay, but....I just don't love it.

I really, really like the look of the snow white DK2M's though, so I'm thinking of selling the RR3 and getting a used DK2M.

Anyone got any thoughts on this idea? How does a DK2M compare to an SL3?

I'm also thinking about getting rid of my KE3. Neither the KE3 or RR3 is anywhere near as good a guitar as the SL3.

I like the DK2M's they are great guitars for the money, if you're not feeling the RR3 and love your SL3 then the DK2M is a great choice it will give you some more tone options with the dual hums and maple fretboard. It will feel alittle different' with the bolt on neck but otherwise its a great guitar , i say go for it .

I should also point out I have a JDR 94 Concept as well and I love that too. I feel it's a better guitar - playing, looks and sounds wise - than either the RR3 or KE3.

        I went from a RR3 to a DK2M. DK2M ripped the RR3.

Go for it, i've had a KE3 and thought it was rubbish especially on strap, i could never get that to sit properly, even after moving the strap buttons to different locations!
I've not had a RR3 but i've had a Dean VMNT and i got rid of that because it was crap and unpractical to play at home.
Can't go wrong with the SS shape. I sold my DK2T rosewood board, fixed bridge. i found the neck profile was like a scaffold board. Only Jackson i have now is a DK2M with single hum, licensed floyd, reverse headstock and red ghost flames. It is a very nice guitar... But like you say, you have favourites and the guitar i play most of the time is the PRS CE24.. You should go have a play on one... sell all your other guitars and get one

                  It's a black finish Mazz.

The DK2M arrived today and I seem to have got a great bargain. It's hard to tell from the photos in the ebay listing, I'd assumed it was just some cheapo gig bag, but it's actually a really nice little hard-ish case. The guy left the receipt in with it - he paid £450 for the guitar, £60 for the case, just 10 months ago. Plus a nice leather strap. For £290 including postage I'm really happy.
The guitar looks stunning, in excellent nick. I don't feel very well right now, so can't get playing it properly, but I'll get some pics up soon.
