  • Jackson Soloist XL Opinions?

If you read my thread on Carvins you'll see that I have the opportunity to purchase a 92ish Soloist XL. The finish is a little dinged but the JT-590 is mint as is the hardware. It's even got the tool holder on the back complete with Allan Keys. The pearl inlays are really nice but the neck needs cleaning badly. It's priced at 750 but I think I can talk them down.

So, what do you people think of Soloist XLs? Anybody own one? Pictures are of course appreciated and almost required since this is the JCF.

I'm probably going to get it held until I get the funds tomorrow.

Yay! My dad's lending me the cash to put it on hold "Because I did so good in school this year". It may partly be because I gave him his father's day gift early. Let's just hope it ain't sold by morning. The store closes in 20 minutes and I'm going to be there for opening to make sure I get it.

There was a Soloist XL that went for 650 on Ebay not long ago. Also, a Soloist Pro that went for 750. Talk them down to 650 then buy it!

I'm going to do my best to take the price down. My dad knows lots of the people there because he's always there buying strings. I'll point out the dings in it even though they are minor. I think it's cheap because they have no clue what it is. It just says Jackson guitar on the price tag as opposed to the model name like most. I hope it comes with the bar for the JT-590. I can always order one from someone (Budman?) if it doesn't.

$650 only if it has no body or tip damage and a case.

$650 American is around 750 Canadian so it's okay priced and I think I can talk them down a bit to about 700ish at the least. It comes with a case, I'm not sure what kind but the tag said it does. There's no damage other than pick swirls on the body, one little ding, and the very tip of the headstock has a tiny bit of paint missing. I can touch that up. As mentioned, the JT-590 is absolutely mint and there's no rust on the hardware or pickup poles. I spent a solid hour playing and inspecting every last inch of it.

Other than new imports, Jacksons are generally really hard to find here so I'll take a bit of a hit to get one because I hate dealing with shipping and eBay. All of the stores here won't budge on the MAP for imports so a new DK2 costs more than this Soloist. There's a new SL3 beside it and it's priced at 1299.99 without a case. If my calculations are right I will only need to pay about 365 for this guitar because I'll get 375 for one of my guitars and I'm paying 10% down payment for them to put it on layaway for me.

I'm going there with my dad first thing in the morning. He said he would help me out but I don't know what that means. I think he's helping me deal with all the finance stuff and cosigning if required. They'll probably try and talk us into a payment plan of some type which is fine. The ideal situation would be to have a payment plan and I get to take it home but chances of that are slim to none.

          I'm hoping for the best!

I got it! NGD thread forth coming with pics. I just spent 3 hours cleaning it and setting it up. The old springs on the JT-590 were toast so I had to put new ones on. It's AMAZING now.
