  • SLSMG Questions

I recently purchased a jackson slsmg (2006 I Believe, from what I understand one of the years before active emgs were in these models) and absolutely love it. However I have a couple questions....
    1. Where can one locate a truss rod adjustment tool (I tried to get the official one through email and over the phone, but as I'm sure others can attest to fender does not have the greatest customer service). If the official truss rod adjustment tool is unavailable where can I acquire a properly sized alternative?
    2. What were the original pickups in these models?
    3. Where can one find a good case for an slsmg. The gentleman I purchased it from shipped it in an skb case but the headstock is contantly impaling the side of the case and it is altogether not well fitted to the slsmg's shape.

    Thanks!

    1. I believe what you need is a box wrench. Not sure of the correct size though.
    2. I believe they originally came with EMG-HZ pickups.
    3. Any case sized for a Jackson Dinky/Soloist should be fine.

Don't most imports now come with hardshell cases anyway? And can your local dealer order just an SLSMG case from Fender?
      Fuck ebay, fuck paypal

        Congrats on the new guitar.

        (1) I don't know, but you could just buy a set of allen keys see which one fits.

        (2) Prior to '06 they were EMG-HZs. In '06 they moved to active EMG 81 & 85. It should be obvious which you have. You can find that stuff out by looking through the old catalogues, which Jackson have online:

Crafted with the demands of the discernible player in mind, Jackson guitars give you the shapes, finishes and tones you love. From the venerable Rhoads, Soloist, Warrior and more, shop Jackson for the highest performance.

        (3) Contact one of the sponsering dealers, would be my advice. They can check with Jackson to see what's in stock. Jackson used to sell a DMC case for the SLSMG, which you may still be able to get. The new ones come with moulded SKB cases, but I don't know if they sell them seperately. (They'll probably answer Q1 too, if you ask nicely; Nick from Piney Hills owns a limited editon SLSMG, after all).

If you get a chance, you should post some pictures of the guitar. We all love guitar porn. Oh yes we do.
