I came on here to get some respectful info about my guitar since it was my first Jackson. What I asked had nothing to do with the Duncan Design pickups.
I TOLD you I always replaced DD pickups myself too - I was agreeing with you!
I simply asked about the pickups, I never passed judgement or "busted your balls" about it. If someone else did, don't blame me for it FFS. :think:Last edited by MartinBarre; 08-02-2009, 03:56 AM.

Anyhoo, with that out the way, you should put some black hardware on that, more like your Ibanez.
Don't take it the wrong way again, I'm just saying, the black works better in some guitars, I think it'd work well in that one. It'd certainly make the headstock look cooler (I've done it myself on a DK2 neck).

DDs are cheap. They're DESIGNED BY not BUILT BY Duncan, and many people can't grasp that concept. So don't feel too bad about having your balls busted over it.I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

DD's Are made in Korea by low paid labor they cost Jackson less money to purchase.Thats business.
Upgrading pickups and electronics is money well spent.
Ball busting is normal operating procedure around here get used to it.
Nice guitar you got a good one.The new DK's don't do much for me so thats where I stand.
I'm not anal about pickups either with good pots and caps most any pick up can sound good.
I have a 70's Aria Pro II L.P.copy that screams to the heavens with the stock pick ups now that I have an RS kit in it.Last edited by straycat; 08-02-2009, 05:34 PM.Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Seriously, I think it looks great as it is. The rosewood board goes well with the purple finish. I wouldn't have any second thoughts about playing that guitar in front of an audience - it looks awesome. I love the Pavo Purple finish.
According to my list of import serials, 9615654 would place the guitar somewhere in 1998. BUT, a neckplate serial is not proof of its age by any means. We've concluded in the past that the japanese plant never bothered to put the serials on the guitars in chronological order. I think they had a big bin of stamped neck plates, and just grabbed one when they needed one. Like I stated earlier; the only way to make sure, is to take the neck off.

Just out of curiosity, You changed the pups, want to change all the hardware to black, and want to change the neck. That leaves just a body that will be original. Why did you buy that guitar in the first place? Don't get me wrong... Almost everything I get (including guitars, motorcycles, trucks, etc..) is a shell of it's former self when I'm done with it so I try for a good base (body and neck) and build from there. It seems like you should put the pups back in and buy/build something closer to what you want. May get more than the $250 you spent on it in the first place.Every man dies... Flame away.
Welcome to ball buster central
I thought since you were from Texas that you could take the heat
Seriously, the axe you have is the same exact first Jackson I bought in Feb 2005. I've changed the hardware to gold, but haven't swapped pickups yet. Mine has a fatty neck, which I'm not into so it stays in the case a lot.Last edited by DonP; 08-04-2009, 11:01 AM.

What the hell does pre-fender mean to a non-USA axe?

No but seriously, i'm thinking about getting a DK2M neck and replacing this one. I like the maple/rosewood neck, but I would like to venture off and try something different. What do you gentlemen think?
That said, I'm not sure if your DK2 neck is as thick as the one I had, or if any DK2M neck you got would be as slim as mine.
I don't think it'd be worth swapping it either way though, you would be better off just getting a DK2M if that's the look you want. They come loaded with real Duncans and black hardware too!
