  • Strats

I am watching the bay for jackson strat models, to make a dave murray/or adrian type model. I am looking at the cheap models, and there is one I cant remember what its called. I seached for performers, stealth, and fusions. I also looked at charvels, dinky's and soloists, but I feel there is another type body style that I am forgetting about.
I hooked up my accelerator pedal in my car to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

Well, to start off - good luck finding a Jackson Strat. Not many have been made, and I believe most, if not all of them, were made by the custom shop. Jacksons are Dinky sized in 99.9% of the cases, and if you're doing an Iron Maiden tribute model, you will want a full size strat.

Your best bet would be to look for a Charvel model series Strat, as they would take a Jackson 22-fret neck without modification. Then there's the issue of finding a Jackson strathead neck. You'd probably be better off just getting the Adrian Smith sig model.

I'd start with a black MIM strat, maple FB, H-S-S and take it from there. The first issue is do you want to Floyd it or not. I'm always looking for Floyded Fenders and they are few and far between, and most likely not black.

Yeah, I would second Don's suggestion. It would probably be most cost efficient to get a low cost Fender Strat and start from there. It just wouldn't be a Jackson.

Yeah, either a MIM strat or a nice Squier would be the best starting point for a Davey strat. I wouldn't be too anal about all the details of Dave's current sig strat. It has a maple board, but he had that same guitar with a rosewood board too, he used it on the World Slavery tour.
Even if you're wanting to make a replica of the one in the "Holy Smoke" vid, I think a Fender or Squier strat might be a better, and certainly cheaper, starting point.

He has two... one's a '57 and the other a '64. The '64 is the one with the rosewood board that was modified with a Kahler trem and then eventually put back to its vintage trem.

Get a Van Zandt, from what I understand they're the best secret out there today.

I know the original booklet from the Live After Death album states his gear and that those were the two Fenders he had. There's other info out there somewhere, but I can't recall offhand. Don't think he had one with the bigger CBS headstock either.

I do want a floyded one. I'm not sure why I said Dave, I meant Adrian. I guess my best bet would be to buy the MIM Strat FR in white and buy the one ply black pickguard, and order a warmoth neck with the maple neck.

You can get Squier's with maple fretboards too, you could fit a black pickguard to one of those.

But I would change the neck anyways. But no, I have found what I want! http://www.garykramerguitar.com/CrusaderDeluxe.html Ill most likely buy a warmoth neck, but I may not have too, but for that price, my mind is made up already. But there is one thing I do wonder, could you call Jackson and tell them you broke the neck off of your adrian smith dinky, and ask them to send you a replacement? (obviously at a charge)
