DK2S Identification

If anyone knows where I can find out what year my Jackson DK2S and any related info (wood, pickups, etc.) I would appreciate the help. I have been all over net trying to find out. Thanks.

That can't be the full serial. You must've omitted a digit. However, the only way to be sure as to when a bolt-on was made, is to take the neck off and check the stamps.

Huh? What's wrong with the serial? MIJ imports have 6 digit serial numbers.
I count six digits.

I think the newer MIJ may have 7, but I don't recall off the top of my head.

Neck-through MIJ imports have 6 digits. Bolt-ons (usually) have 7. I guess it could be a really early one from back before 7 digits were introduced, but I doubt it, since he states it's a DK2S. But like I already stated - the only way to be sure is to take the neck off.

Well guys, I took the neck off and it was made in 2002. The stamp on the body said 4-1 so I am not absolutely sure if that is the month and the day or the month and the year, probably the month and the day so I assume they are both made in 2002. For the record, I did leave out a 7 on the serial number...sorry about that. Anyway it's time to do another search and find out the woods used, pickups, and hopefully I can find out which OFR I can switch out with the Floyd Licensed stock. I appreciate everyones' help. I assumed I could just call the shop if I ever needed the info but they were bought out by guitar center and my records were lost. If anyone knows off hand more info about what's on my guitar please let me know, but hopefully I can find on net now that I know the year it was made.

The wood is Alder according to the catalog.
The pickups are a Duncan Designed HB-102B and a SC-101 plus the Sustainiac driver.
As for the trem, an OFR will drop right in without any modifications needed.
You can even use the original JT-580LP trem posts.
Keep the stock lock nut unless you plan on changing hardware color.
If you do swap it, you will need to file/sand down the nut shelf as the OFR nut is a bit taller.

Pics! I'd love a DK2S, but they're stupid money over here, and the Sustainiac just costs too much for it to be worth it as a retrofit to something else.

Agreed. Tho I got a good deal on one at the time. They (2006 version) retailed for £625, I got mine for £520. Amber Sunburst.

Hmm, even at that, I only paid £500 for my SL3. I'm not sure I'd use the sustainer all that much after the novelty wore off.
They don't even sell them over here any more, I dunno why they don't stick the Sustainiac in a lower level guitar, like one of the X series or whatever, keep the price down.
