before Rob sold that kelly to chatterboots he told the story about it because he wanted me to buy it first since I bought his crackle and some other stuff, but after chatterboots sold it, we thought it was gone to never-never-land

So the CBXIV NT underwent some corrective surgery this week. Pulled the Jackson Soapbars and 3 band, and in went EMG 35TW's with each pickup having a push/pull pot for dual coil/single coil and a BQS control. Pick it up tomorrow, pretty excited to see what difference the upgraded pickups made. The stock EQ wasn't too bad, but I went with a solderless connection system, so I pulled the original 3 band. All in all, I am pretty impressed with the CBX IV NT for $550. Great neck, decent hardware, 2 octave neck through bass. MIne was intonated perfectly and love the compound radius fretboard. All in all, definite thumbs up. Only negative, stock SoapBars are kind of weak, imo, and they definitely needed the EQ to have any punch or grit.

although like so many others that looked the same for 30 years, I still like those 5stringers compared to the new ones with the goofy crescent moon knob layout

Looks silly next to that KV. I mean the headstock is way bigger but that logo is smaller. Jackson could have used a slightly bigger logo on those. IMO
