No lie. I wonder if Sully is close enough to pick it up and lug it to a nearby "We Break Shit In Transit" depot

I thought for sure I once saw in a magazine or liner notes that Dave used a Peavey 8x10. I wanna say for Rust or Countdown.

I was always more of a billy Sheehan fan-boy and didn't follow D.E. too much back then. ( or now )

Can't really call myself a fanboy of Dave's. I mean, when Rust came out I went on a Megadeth binge that lasted up until Risk, so I had a chance to really hear his bass tone on a regular basis. Very distinctive. Clear, punchy, and pretty much sold me on the Concert V.

well when it comes to loudness and good tone for bass, the more speakers the merrier.

Up to 1993 Dave used Gallien-Krueger 800RB amps and Hartke 4.5XL cabs, switching to Ampeg SVT 2 amps and SVT 8x10 cabs. In the studio, guitar amps were sometimes used for alternate tracks- notably an Peavey 5150 on Paranoid (1993).
Dave used Peavey amps/cabinets and Mackie power amps for amplification. His effects setup includes DigiTech Genesis 3 and BP-2000 pedals, Korg and Peterson tuners, BBE[disambiguation needed] and Tech 21 Sansamp DIs, Digidesign Pro Tools MBox LE and Peavey Pro Comm U1002 Wireless systems. Ellefson uses D'Addario Nickel Electric guitar strings for his guitars, Prism and Pro Steel Medium Gauge bass strings (45-130) for his basses, Jim Dunlop Medium Tortex picks and Planet Waves cables.

I'd blow that thing up if I used my current amp in bridge mode at full volume, and If I couldn't, I'd be surprised..... ( looks like someone cooked one of the speakers in that thing already )

I used to use an Ampeg 2x15 vertical cab until I got tired of hauling it around because of the weight. I still have the thing and use it as a PA bottom in my jamroom.

the SVT amps are 300 watts and the cab is rated at 300 too.The recone was due to improper loading in a van , the cab tipped and landed on a Marshal head and punched a triangle shaped hole

those things fetch a pretty penny for all the die-hard ampeg lovers. Too bad for Ampeg, because Ellefson rejuvenated Jackson to make cheap Indian JS basses, If Megadeath had ampeg as a sponsor maybe Ellefson could sell a bunch of "his signature" amps as well....lol

I mean shit, 350 bucks for a concert-V, just made in India out of cheaper wood than poplar and no kahler bridge?...geez who thought it would happen huh?

i'd rather buy a new JS3V for under 500 than a used C5 for the same price since the JS3V comes in silverburst...mmmmmm

but I can't buy one just yet...not for another righty bass that will sit in the house 24/7

Yea Amimbari, the early blue lines do , mine is a 81'-84' MTI era SVT and because it was MIJ I would be lucky to get $1200 for the whole rig
