these prices depress me. Why? because I'll never get what I want for my mint black model1 so that's why I kept it around for so long.

they made 2 versions of the p, one with 11k total and 1 with 8.5k. I have never complained on what any of my p-j basses sound like thru my rig with the stock pickup. I still have a passive lefty model2 that I use here and there and it is clear and bassy enough.

i love the tone of my 86 b1 The p pick up is reversed and the maple fretboard seems brighter (IMO)

I really dig maple fretboards. I prefer it on my Strats. With a P Bass pickup tending to have a really full low end tone, the maple neck should be a good match. I would think. I'm still waiting for shipment on my 1B. It's red. I suppose it is Ferarri red. Bright. I have a Model 1, a Model 3, and a Model 4 guitars that are the same color. I've yet to pick up a maple fingboard Model series guitar. I'm looking.

That looks good. Did the neck match up well with the pocket?

not the holes, but the pocket...yep, perfect fit. the neck is from an old XZ70 plywood bass

one more bridge debate comparing this CMG

                  to this CSM

                  to the old unit

honestly, I cant tell a difference except for the cool factor. Each one still has to ride on the adjuster screws.

The guy is trying to get another $40 out of me for shipping costs on the Model1B. I asked him to split it.

what? yet another newbie shit who dont know how much it costs....on the listing it said 32.00 from him to me ( PA ), and if he tried that on me, I would report the PM's and cancel the transaction. BUT if you can still get it for ~ 200 then it's worth it...he cant get his money till he posts a tracking# anyway. If it is fucked up somehow from some dipshit who never packed a guitar, your safe anyhow. It just ties up your money waiting for paypal to get it back for you.

I think he knew what he was doing. He was upset that it didn't sell for more. He said, because it sold so cheap, he wasn't willing to split the extra $40 he wanted. He gave me the opportunity to cancel the sale. He knew how to send me an invoice for the extra $40, though. I went ahead and paid it. The black 1B I found would have been cheaper when all was said and done. Not by much.

well I have found that sellers who say "shit I only got xxx dollars, now what do I do" tend to be nice and allow you the buyer to make the decision of take it for more or cancel the sale.
the seller dont get his money till it's shipped and positive feedback is received so he IS smart....

I received the Model 1B. It's missing the back cover. A little buckle rash. Headstock has some battle wounds, but not too bad. No fret wear. The bridge is in perfect shape. I'm not going to use it for parts. This bass plays great. Super low action ( I lowered it). No buzzing. Doesn't even fret out when bending strings. Sounds great through my Bassman head. The rolloff on the pots is backward! Is that from being wired backward?

glad it came intact. I know real new-newbies have to wait till the buyer puts pos feedback before paypal will release the cash, so if your a dick, stall it off for 30 days...lol

                              J/K

probably some dummy put lefty pots in there as they have the grounded tab soldered on the opposite leg.

when I put a preamp in a lefty of mine, I don't bother resoldering the ground legs, just remember that they turn the opposite way from doing it for years playing rightys flipped and leftys.

and if I ever see a bridge out there, I'll still be sure to let you know.

Thanks Amimbari! I appreciate it. I love your You Tube stuff! My buying spree is over for a good while. I am going to keep searching for a spare bridge, though. I have 10 Model series Charvel guitars now! When I get a chance I'll take a picture and post it. Keep rockin'.
