80s era handmade BCRs for the most part are great. A friend had a Warlock with Kahler (yes a bass) that was loud as an acoustic guitar. I have an 80s Explorer BCRS bass that weighs 12 tons
Imports... Depends. I don't like new BCR imports. They feel just like ny other Asian made import, like plastic.
BCR tarnished their brand with a lot of stupid decisions starting in the late 80s and never really recovered. They haven't done much to build on their once glorious history. Most people think they are all crap imports and that NJ means New Jersey.

I remember seeing that trans purple Ignitor on the BCR players forum as a CS a while back. I believe it was around $7k. There was also one way before then with a more streamlined looking headstock in a darker purple quilt (Namm 90's?)Last edited by wilkinsi; 09-08-2012, 04:13 PM.Fuck ebay, fuck paypal

Just found this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/B-C-Rich-Ign...item4abbd49ea9. Note that this has the original ASM headstock, plus binding... and as much as I want it, wallet says "NO!"Last edited by wilkinsi; 09-08-2012, 06:57 PM.Fuck ebay, fuck paypal

I've owned four STIII's over the years, and came to the conclusion that they were inferior to Jackson strats. The specs are mostly the same: they have flat fretboards, 22 frets, have mostly rosewood fretboards, are mostly HSS configs, usually have V controls but sometimes VT, have non-recessed trems. However, they have Gotoh, Takeuchi, or Edge trems. The fretwork on them is OK but not great. The build quality is also OK but not great. The graphics on them are hit or miss. They don't seem to have work order numbers written in the neck pocket so they are tough to authenticate. The locknuts are mostly bottom-drilled and can suffer from cracks._________________________________________________

Had a decent 89 ironbird NJ pretty good guitar overall the trem wasn't much, put a spare JT-6 on it for a while and it did great.Put the original trem back on
The guy I sold it too dropped an OFR on it and gigs with it all the time.
Really? well screw Mark Twain.

The early '80s BC Rich USA neckthru basses are some of the best ones I've ever tried. I'd love to get a vintage USA Eagle bass, but they sell for big bucks now.
The more recent imports I've played have mostly been unimpressive. You can do a lot better than that with other cheap imports, like Schecter or Ibanez.
