The more recent imports I've played have mostly been unimpressive. You can do a lot better than that with other cheap imports, like Schecter or Ibanez.

I currently own 8 USA Custom Shop B.C. Rich basses all of which are neck through body. I have 2 Warlocks, 2 Mockingbirds, 2 Widows ( 1 is for sale on Ebay ) 1 ST and 1 Gunslinger.
Here is a link to the Widow I have on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BC-Rich-2006...item337ce75d07
I have owned Hamers, Spectors, Jacksons, Gibsons, Ibanez but after getting my first USA BC Rich bass I was hooked and haven't looked back although I almost pulled the trigger on an Jackson Thunderbird about a month ago.

Clammy from the Canadian band Exciter uses those Moser Customs that are sooooo similar in look. He has pics all over TB.com and I wonder why BCR never told Moser to stop copying.

yep....
After leaving B.C. Rich in 1985, Neal met Lee Garver and agreed to join forces with Lee. Lee Garver owns GMW Guitar Works. The GMW stands for Garver, Moser and Wizard. GMW is noted for guitars which are handmade and hand-painted. For over 10 years Neal, Lee and Dan created Moser Guitars which were shown at the NAMM Show in Los Angeles from 1986 to 1998. At that time Neal Moser retired.
He came out of retirement in 2002 to help start the Moser Custom Shop, owned by Earlleen Lloyd. Moser Custom Shop built guitars designed by Neal Moser, Rodney McGlothlin, Dan Fastuca, Ken Patin (formerly of Yavcon Guitars) and a number of other individual designers. Endorsees of MCS include Ol Drake (Evile) and many more.
In 2010 Neal Moser moved to Prescott Valley, Arizona. In 2011 he opened his own shop under the name Neal Moser Guitars. There he continues to build world-class custom guitars and teach custom neck-through guitar building classes. He also does repair and refurbishing of vintage BC Rich guitars.

Last year i played an 80's BC Rich Mockingbird bass. Not only was it the most awesome bass i ever played, it also was easily the best instrument out of 150 at the store where i played it. Seriously these 80's BC Rich are in a league of their own.

there is a guy named Clammy from the Canadian band called Exciter who is on talkbass with about a 1/2dozen Moser customs that look like glorified BCR widows... although old news, we asked him if Moser was part of the BCR era stuff because his mosers look exactly like a BCR.
well ya...lol

I had a Warlock back in the 80's, it was a cool bass, but was moved along as the years went by.. it is a tough sell when your genre changes musically sadly.... Up until recently, I had not paid too much attention to BCR honestly.. I mean the older Mockingbirds are awesome, but out of my price range..
So I ended up seeing an Innovator for sale - the price was right and I was able to make it happen with a sale, trade, and some positive thinking... It is more conventional in regards to shape, and oddity if you will when you think BC Rich. This was made under Bernie's watch in 1995 for the 1996 NAMM show, one of 40 that were crafted and brought to the show. All were sold, and were never made again. There were Innovators yes, but not like this one.
It plays like a dream, neck feels awesome and it sounds great. A few pics:
Oh and Neal Moser? The man is a genius and still creating awesomely dangerous guitars.

Neal worked for BCR and designed the Bich and Virgin. He licensed the designs to them. Years later they commissioned him to create 25th anniversary Bich guitars. HHI owned BCR at the time. They didn't know much about the handmade division. Under his own company Neal continued to design and build more guitars including the Bich which he called a Moser 10 or Moser 6. The radical shapes were designed by Rodney McGlothlin including Clammys Arachnid. HHI issued a lawsuit to Neal for the Bich. Neal basically told them to F off and counter sued for royalties they owed him. They finally settled. Jack Hanser approached Neal at NAMM and asked for a deal and somewhat apologized. Neal can build 100 Bich guitars a year and some Seagulls. He had even discussed handling all their handmades or building them on request for a premium. They turned him down. Neal was always up front about building his own designs and didn't copy BCR shapes. Sal Gonzales, an original BCR builder even worked for Neal for a while.
