  • Jackson CMG Bass--build date and origin

I recently acquired a Jackson CMG bass and I would like more information about it. It has serial number 9665613. It shares the same specs as the other CMGs I've seen, except that it is solid metallic gold and has passive electronics from the factory (EMG-HZs, but without an active preamp, just 2 volumes, 2 tones, and a 3 way mini-toggle switch for pickup selection). Can anyone confirm when and where this instrument was built? It looks to be an earlier import model but other than that I'm not sure. Thanks.

Well, this isn't my area of expertise but the serial number seems to suggest it was made in 1996.

naw, you could mean 2006, not 1996. Serials were just a number so it could be a 06,07,---who knows. I have 2 of them and never cared what year they were made, and even if I wanted to know, Unless I saw a sheet from Jackson on the serial ( which dont exist ) that would be the only way. If I had to take a guess I would say 06 since my black one has a way higher serial than that.

Take a picture and post it.

You are both wrong on the year - if these follow the same format as MIJ 6 string bolties, 966 is closer to 2000.

        Your 9683 is 2002-03, amimbari.

I always forget that they made CMG's in the early 2000's.
