  • A Charvel bass for Slavantas

Well about a year ago me and my bassplayer Adrian went out shopping at the vintage fair and he bought himself a Charvel bass but we haven't really gotten a clue about what type of Bass it is or where it was made.

Today I had the Bass over at my place so I could set it up properly and decided to take some pictures of it while I was at it and here they are.

So what kind of bass is this, we really love to know.

And Adrian isn't the only one toting a Charvel in our band, Jacques, our new guitarist plays a beautiful model 6

like rjohnstone said 2B, probably a 85-87 before they changed the sticker on the headstock to the Charvel Toothpaste style sticker. 3B models were the same, just neckthru/active pups with the infamous J-2000 preamp like my 87:

you looking for a 2B/3B? there's a RED 2B on ebay, go ask the seller if he will take 100 bucks for it since there's no bids and he is crazy with 199.00+ 50 to ship, cause noone's gonna buy a no-case used 2B for 250 total. ( that is if your looking for a 2B/3B not just a 3B in red....)

let me know, cause if you don't want it, I'm gonna offer him 150 total shipped to my door, and see what he says.

hahah ok... I got it now....

I'll keep an eye out on the local CL for ya.....red 3b only, no other colors no 1-2B's. unless some mis-informed goof is selling a good 3B in red for 100 bucks, cause he don't know what it is...well then I would HAVE to but it and sell it to you for just a "little" more.

Man...I love how cheap those old Charvels are! It's kinda a rip off what I'm getting my 3B back for...but I'm more than willing to pay twice as much to get it back, thanks to my own stupidity.

Don't they just make you feel good?
From here on the nightmare only gets worse...

Can someone explain the controls to me on this? I have a 3B at the house that my singer brought over. I haven't quite figured out what the controls do exactly. Seems like two are tone and one is volume?

that is correct bass/treble/volume, and the switch selects the pickups...

Thank you. I have never really done anything with a bass. Yet.

glad I could help, the bass section in the JCF is really the minority, but there are a few of us who help keep it alive
