hey redRacer, I see you bought that Model1 off the guy.

you may find that the OEM pickup is a little weak, but you will certainly like the tone, and I'm sure you have enough effects to get it to where you like it.

or someday you will EMG it like I did with my black model1

show us some pics when it arrives at your home safe and sound...

the serial numbers on the neck thru model series DO indicate the year with the first digit but not the bolt ons. hence c6 number would be 86 c7 -87 just so you know

good deal, I welcome you to the Board, to the world of MODEL B series basses, and the cool looking maple neck axes, that are not nearly as common as the rosewood ones

Received the 1b yesterday, thought I'd post the pics for you guys. It's in even better shape than I imagined it to be in, not a scratch on her other than the fine polishing scratchs you get when you been around this long. Action super low, neck smooth as butter, no real fret wear to speak of. Looks like it has been barely played in its life. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase, it's a welcome addition to my Jackson/Charvel family...

I KNOW your happy Racer for 2 reasons:

it IS as Described and better.
              it ARRIVED safely

and for what you paid (under 300), you aren't selling it off next month, so it WAS/IS worth it !!!!!

my black one came with a EMG, but my red one like yours will always have the passive pup in it, and I also think it sounds great !!!!

here's a couple "simple jams" checking out the tone on the dead strings before I change them, and really get to use the bass.....

both jams are in DGCF tuning.

              2000's metal -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZJVWqXHtos

and all that "I got one cheaper" stuff before was not meant as a indication that yours wouldn't be any higher quality, as I paid over 325 for my black one, in the "mint" condition as the red one you just got. The red one I just happen to get a bargain, that's all....

hell I hope years in the future ALL my C/J stuff goes up in value......

Hey Amimbari, right on both reasons... couldn't be happier with it. As mentioned earlier it was on the high side probably price wise, but I don't mind, got what I expected for my money. Nothing taken from the "you got yours cheaper" thing, understood your meaning. Always love a deal....

Cool jams, enjoyed both of them, the defrancos haven't heard them in years (yeah I'm 44), I'm a metal head so the metal jam was cool to see too, Rock on Brother!

my younger friends always thing it is a funny thing to watch an old man jamming some metal, but I started out on that stuff in the 80's, so they understand why I like it

my youtube channel is filled with everything, to show the masses that although I love to play metal, I'll play anything with a catchy rock bassline, even some bizzare basslines in t.v. and cartoon themes....

and I'm a little older @ 48, and until medical reasons prevent me from being a metal-head speed freak, I'll be doing it for a while still....

                      Possible 3B

I'm thinking about buying this bass but want to get an accurate ID on it. It is a neckthru model, with the old school guitar shaped Charvel logo, and a serial number of C608167. Pics:

Compared to amimbari's family shot earlier in the thread, the control layout looks like a 4B, but it is a neckthru like a 3B. Ideas?

It is a 1986 3B made in Japan and one solid bass.

Nice one, dude! Get it! That brown splotch is kind ugly, though. How much are they asking for it?

Relic is in! More importantly, how are the frets and neck, does it need work there ...

The splotch kind of looks like someone set a freshly grilled beef patty down as they were stringing it.:ROTF:
