    oh that eyehook is cute!!!

anyway, glad you got it and for 250 that's fucking awesome, since an ebayer would never sell it for under 300-350 with a chainsaw case!!!
I use a toothbrush and some wood cleaner, then polish it with wood polish, it is oily, but a good wiping takes the gloss back off.

    I finally got my white rarity, a 88 4b to match my C.A.R one ( I know it's a 88 cause they only made 4b's in 1988 )
here's a pic of it at the house:

it is the same as a 3b they made for the years they did 86-88, but the 4b is the b.o. version with the 3b body.

    again, congrats at your find!!!

must have been a trendy thing, like the people who purposely belt sand and acid splatter a perfectly good guitar to make it look old ( and to them, better looking ) --ya right!!:ROTF: however, that hook can be removed easily, with no "permanent" damage.

he could take and add a strap button on the backside like I did to my 3b, but since he will be holding it normally, naw, he can do what you suggested

only I would notice this about his 86 3b Bob, that is his 3b has the older charvel logo with the TM, not circle-r after the name....cause my bunch are mixed like that, as I can usually now tell from the serial if it was a 85-1/2-86-1/2 or a 87-89.

such stupid things I look for huh?....lol

Imagine all the things certain people have to know if they are antique appraisers or jewlery appraisers ...

ya like all the JCF finicky guitarplayers who can spot a fake by so many little "copied mistakes". oh well this just means I have had these things in my possession too long already even down to the serials I have to keep on record for insurance purposes, the higher the number the later it was made

but I still wish the serials meant something

Chalk it up to import contract work, what you see is what you get.
You've molested enough Charvels to last a lifetime ... lol

and to think I played only 2, the TBX and the 3b for years cause I was into the NT thing... I thought that's all I ever needed was one P/J and one EMG bass.

                          I WAS WRONG :ROTF:

but at least all the NT stuff had dated serials

welcome MrHeanky. as you can see from previous posts, serials are no good for anything, but from yours, I would say 1986 or 1987..a couple pics and I'll confirm that.

easy way to tell what model is:

1 pup - model 1 always with a maple board
                                2 pup - model 2 with 3 knobs
2 pup - model 3 with 3 knobs and switch NT
2 pup - model 4 with 3 knobs and switch BO

easy for model ID, but hard for year ID because the serials are not "dated"
