    My Charvel Bass Project...

    About 2 years ago I bought this bass for $60 to knock around with and to have something to record with.

    It was really rough with tons of stickers, gouges...and about 300 coats of diffrent colored paint. 1/2 of the P=pickup was missing and it had a Jackson J=pickup that barely worked. I stripped the body and installed a Duncan Performer Sledgehammer P-pickup and a Seymour Duncan BassLines J-pickup. Sounded pretty good....looked like a turd. Now I'm playing bass on a couple songs with the band and just can't get comfortable on my bassist's Specter. So I painted the Charvel, my first spray job..... It's not done yet, all the color is sprayed but it still needs a good rub then the clears, but I mocked it up for a quick pic.

    I don't know what it is, but the Charvel plate has the serial 008365.
    Transitioning from Retired Musician from cover bands to a Full time vocalist/frontman/guitarist in an original and covers band....it's been a while and this should get NASTY!

    WOW...now that's a difference, dude!! Excellent! Spectors are definitely a strange type of bass--not for everyone.
    From here on the nightmare only gets worse...

      I find with his Specter that I get pain in my wrist. The Charvel feel right to me.

        CHARVEL all the way baby.... ( I got the whole model series 1-4 and a few spares )

        yours looks like a mutt with a 1b maple neck on a 2b body, but who cares, the finished paintjob is very nice!!!

        as far as the serial it with that low of a number, the numbering system was never meant for year identification, and all mine are 200xxx or 300xxx from the various years of model basses I have, nothing that low in number like yours in my group of them.

          Thanks for the welcome! I bought the Charvel because I always liked Billy Childs's Charvel basses. Of course his are USA and Neck-thru, but the feel of the neck is very similar.

            ya I think the same of my necks they all "feel" the same even the painted NT's. so no matter what body they are attached to, I always feel at home

            probably the same neck specs made for MANY MANY years.....

              Yeah the Spectors have very round, beefy, odd shaped necks. Charvels/Jacksons are VERY consistent and very sleek. Great choice, man

              The fingerboard looks gorgeous on that bass...an excellent 1B!
