talkbass.com, where all of us JacksonFreaks are the MINORITY, but we DO have a few active threads over there.

you CAN'T imagine how much I HYPE up our C/J stuff over there

I would have bought it but I HATE that color, and I'm not in the mood to put out 3 bills AND then refinish the body....

Cool beans, Rustynuts. Sounds like you're finally getting a gorgeous red Eliminator?

that's better than all the people I have to remind it is not a Fusion

the 2 bodies are too close in shape and very easy to mix up except for the telltale ridge up the front and the lack of the beveled bodylines.

Aah the Fusions look too different to me now. All the J/C GAS has opened my eyes.

I think that ridge is kinda cool...but it really makes the bass one-sided, if you know what I mean.

                  my latest addition this week.

heres a couple shots of the latest addition to the family. it is a 2b, but the guy took the blend knob out when he installed the EMG. I figure the EMG Select is first generation old I guess, cause I never saw "select" written like that, only block letters....anyone have selects like that?

the EMG is way more hotter than the OEM jackson pickup, so I'll pull it and toss it in one of my other ones for now cause it kicks ass and now that I heard the difference I wanna keep useing it until this one gets the "makeover" cause I already have too many red guitars.

no, you didnt read my question....stewMac also sells em, but they are the same as EMG direct...block letters that spell out select.. I wanted to figure out when this series with select written in script was made 5-10 years, 15-20 years ago???

I guess I can email EMG, but sometimes people on the board have used something before and can quickly identify it.

Honest that is the only parts mag I ever got, so that's how I recognize them when I was getting it last was 7-15 years ago, so that would be my guess based on where and when I was living at the time I was getting the catalog. I only recently got it again and I looked in there and you're right they are block letters. Damn you're a tough nut !

I have some boxes and crates of old magazines I can look and see if I have an old one mixed in there, maybe I can find a postage mark on it, I'll let you know. Perhaps StewMac had a deal w/ EMG before EMG was selling elswhere, a kind of exclusive line "Select".

could very well be...It works, but I'm ALWAYS curious as to "when" things were made...cause the do say "designed by EMG", not just "EMG".
( and a tough nut? naw I've just been around bass junk for too many years I guess )

I feel ya about knowing when stuff was made, amimbari. The more facts, the more character (especially under appreciated or rare) old gear gets.

or in my case, the 86 2b I have IS a 86, the only year they made em with a reverse P, and the 88 4b, the only year they made those, just like many other "one year only" guitars and basses out there.
