Might be a while on pics, I took it to band practice last night and my bass player called it gay then laughed at me and yet strangely wouldn't give it back after we were done. He wants to set it up...new strings etc. It plays like a guitar, it is a 89 850xl.

I LOVE the fact on the XL they scalloped out the lower horn area

"and he called it gay THEN wanted to play it"...sounds a LOT like my guitarplayer when I bought this FUGLY colored Dillion Strat. He said the same shit, then played it and used it the whole night ---so similar a story ..hehehe

You're both wrong...it's actually greenish silver/platinum...now. Silver/platinum at one time and the old nitro celluose finish took care of the rest. Like an old gibson silverburst gets greener with age. That's the bass I just bought, can't see what a terrible job they did on the neck from the pics though. Felt a little screwed at 350 but the case is killer and the bass plays well. Only took a few hours so far to fix up, minor sanding left.

Cool beans, man. Pity about the neck, yes, but what a cool color.

Actually the neck's feeling awesome just needs a little aesthetic cleanup. The color does grow on ya!

awesome necks...isn't that the "best" quality of these things

shit if Jacksons were square pieces of pine wood with the neck I love, I would get laughed at, but I would be very happy playing it !!!!

many people do not like a painted or poly'ed neck, and I guess it works for them. I played our old singers Warwick with the wenge wood neck...smooth grained, but he has to oil it, and I can actually FEEL the graininess, not that it matters, but the smooth painted/polyed is my #1

I do the unfinished polished wood neck feel. Lots of sanding but it is worth it.

no question about it, lots more work to keep it "fresh", but like I said I loved that Warwick with the natural neck, but liked the tiny but very heavy bubinga body ( it's an older corvette ) much better.

my MM is polyed like all the rest of my Jackson stuff. My guitars though, I have 4 and 3 are natural, and never give me grief or hand scrapes, since they are very well sanded down and polished.
