Your opinions on my trans black flamed SL2H

It's been awhile since I posted but basically I bought this guitar early last year (apparently it was finished on Thanksgiving in '07) and to be honest I don't really play it that much. I think it just turned out much too dark, aka too brown for my liking. But even more strange, is this pattern between the pickups.





I wonder if the person at Jackson who picked the top out would remember it.. Your thoughts? Anything I can do to make it look less brown? Thanks, -Adam

you want to make it less brown? sure. I know just the cure. the lights in my basement are specifically built to make guitars look less brown. send it to me, and it will look just fine in my basement.

Good point, it looks much better under fluorescent lights than incandescent.

Dude, it's flat out gorgeous. That's how trans black should look: freakin' black. Unfortunately, most don't - they're mostly a washed out, turd-smear brown. She's a keeper, for sure.

Since it's so brown, when you play it does it make the brown sound and make you shit yourself (southpark reference).

You don't play it too much because of a color? I think it happens to look beautiful. Who cares what it looks like? Just play it! If it doesn't play that well, then that's another story...

The guitar is great. I just bought a trans green SL2H and I have to say the flame top on it is gorgeous, it also has a reverse headstock which is unique.

With the help of people here I found it was probably a run for Ed Roman and I suspect the top was of especially good quality with the grain, really looks incredible. My fave trans colors are blue and green, they rock.

If someone could tell me how to post my own pics here, I would. It is asking me for a URL but they are on my hard drive when I insert location address, it doesn't work. Thanks!

Thanks, here you go. The only cosmetic issue is the low E turner on the FR, I assume the powder coat is coming off. I guess they can be replaced.

Trans Black has always been one of my favs. That area between the pickups .......well, gives it "character".
