  • Who's using boutique pickups in your USA?

What are you using for pickups in your USA jackson? BKP, WCR, MCP???? Just curious as to what everyone is using that is boutique and how they like it? I just bought a MCP Solution and am anxious to try it in one of my USA's.

I'm running a BKP Nailbomb in one of my XTRRs.
    LOVE IT!

I'm thinking about dropping a Warpig in my other XTRR.

I have a BKP Painkiller in a USA Charvel. My impression of it in this guitar is that it is a very clear sounding distortion. IOW, if you're sloppy it will show as opposed to being able to hide behind tons of gain. I like the pickup and next I'd like to try a BKP Rebel Yell as I was told that one has lots of nice sounding harmonics/overtones. The other 99% of my Jacksons/Charvels have Duncans or Dimarzios.

One day I would love to play a pickup that's worth $150. Tosse around plenty of Lollars and Fralins and other booteek witch doctor pickups. Dimarzios are what I use these days.

I put a Motor City Solution in the bridge of my Adrian Smith dinky. It was a tremendous improvement.

I switched all my bridge pickups out for Bare knuckle ceramic warpigs in all my guitars, the grind and tone is something you cant get from duncan, dimarzio or EMG , i know , because i have tried them all .

Made by a small company with products that are handmade instead of mass produced. That is my definition anyway.

Any details on said improvement? My Solution should be here any day.

Ummm, Duncan and DiMarzio are handmade. You want something specific on your pickup like a different wind or different color pole pieces, etc., call them up and you'll be able to get what you want custom.

Very dynamic and clear. I love EMG 85's and I think they have a bit more low end and chunk but Solutions sound fantastic and I really enjoy having dynamics again. Definitely similar to a cross between an 81 and an 85 but very different as well.

i guess the passive bartolini i use in my soloist would qualify as boutique as it was custom made (greg curbow got bill to build it for him and sold it to me)...best sounding pickup i have ever heard...good bass, incredible mids and a singing high end without making one's ear bleed...bartolini is known more for their active pickups and bass pickups but i wouldnt trade this one for anything...d.m.
