Give the JB in it a try

Soundwise, it has more character than an EMG 85, and though it drives your amp a little less
there is certainly more than enough gain in them
The JB is sometimes described as an 'icepick' but comparing the JB in my RR to an 85 in my mahogany Ibanez
I really don't think an 85 will be any less 'sharp' in an RR

My feedback.....you will love the RR1.

Many love the Duncan sound so give them a fair shake.

I like my RR better with a Duncan Custom in it but the JB still sounded fine. Plus never having to change batteries is a bonus.

Yeah, cuz it's such a huge hassle to change batteries once a year

And if you find you don't like the Duncans in the RR1, remember, they're only held in with screws and solder, same as EMGs.
