  • Numbering system

I got a question for you guys, is the numbers on the neck and body of older San Dimas, or any bolt-on USA Jackson or Charvel for that matter, supposed to match the serial number or are those separate numbers for separate things? Reason I'm asking is my San Dimas Jackson has a different number inside the trem cavity than the serial number but I know that this guitar is all original. So why the different numbers?

the numbers written on the body & neck heel are Work Order numbers. They are used to track the work being done against the customer request. When it's time, they would grab a neckplate out of the pile and slap it on the guitar. I'm not sure if the plates are pre-numbered, but if they numbered them in batches and then grabbed plates as required, the serial on the plate most often wouldn't match the W/O

Work order numbers in the pocket, neck, trem cavity, are different from serial numbers.
