Soloist selection

With the recent threads, I've been eyeing a couple of used soloists at GC.
Can only have one. But which one?
I like the idea of the EMGs based on what I've read, but what do you guys think?

Lightning = bad ass, both are sweet and pickups can be changed. Which one speaks to you?

I would go for the lightning sky, but both of them are nice

I don't much care for EMG's, but that's a personal preference and easy to change.

So, I just looked those up. For $879 that Eerie Dess is a fucking steal. For $1599, I'd pass on the Lightning Sky, unless it's absolutely guaranteed dead mint.

They actually have one of the '96 - '97 SL2's (no inlays, cheap hardware) for... $1499! Get the fuck out of here, guys.

Price aside, I'd go for the Lightning. But those are both common enough finishes that if you miss out, there will be another along soon enough...

I like both finishes but if I could only have one, for me it would be the lightning sky. My wallet would vote the EDS though.

I've changed out the pickups on every guitar I've ever owned so they don't enter the equation for me when buying a guitar.

Is that Erie Dess from GC Jacksonville, FL? It's a good player, but the trem is the JT-590 whereas the Lightning is a Floyd Rose. Not sure if that's a serious difference or not.

It was last summer, and I cannot remember the condition. It was 100% playable, that's for sure. They are blowing out a lot of Soloists there, they had a more recent EDS Soloist. If you're really serious about it I can check it out for you...
