Neckthru on MAH the same as the SL2H?

But I have a question, I seen a picture of the SL2H MAH's heel and I noticed that its not made the same as a traditional neckthru as I see that it look set-thru. Can someone clarify me on wether its considered neckthru? and are all the other sl2h's(not the MAH) built the same as this?

Looks like the same neck joint as all my neck-throughs with jackson. I've also had a SL2H-MAH, which was no different. What kind have you seen?

no is that originally I thought all neckthrus the neck wood goes all the way through the entire body. Bit in the MAH the neck looks like the neck doesnt consist of the entire bodies core like

All Jackson neck-thrus run the whole length of the body.

Ok, but as in the pic of the transparent SL2H the neck isnt the core. theres another piece of wood that starts at the joint of the neck and body. How come jackson doesnt build neckthrus in the traditional sense? and also are the solid colored SL2H's built the same as the transparent in terms of woods?

"Neck through" simply means that the strings are anchored on the same piece of wood from the tuners to the bridge. It does not necessarily mean through the entire body. When you have a tremolo installed, there is enough wood removed that the neck cannot extend through to the end of the body, but it doesn't need to, the strings still are anchored along one piece of wood.

+1. Jacksons are neck-through, not set-neck. However, depending on the guitar, the neck-through is not necessarily the entire depth of the body. It's roughly the same depth as the neck itself.

USA Select production guitars - quartersawn neck-through (entire length of body) maple with a scarf joint at headstock. However, there is an alder centerpiece underneath on the back of the body. For "-MAH" guitars, neck and body centerpiece are mahogany, while some have been 3-piece necks (Y2KV, etc) without a body centerpiece.

Custom shop guitars - Constructed as you spec. With a custom shop guitar, you can optionally upgrade to 3, 5 or 7 piece necks. With or without scarf joint, whatever woods you want, etc.

That's just the normal paint transition from alder body to maple neck. The maple neck goes all the way through, with two body sides joined around it... some companies just put an alder piece (or whatever other body wood is used) over the back. With the mahogany body/neck, it will look closer. It would be the same for the solid colors.

Oh ok thanks for clarifying that for me. I was first confused when I seen a Ebony Neckthru that jackson made. I thought to myself "where the hell did they find a piece of ebony big enough to be the entire core of the body??" Then I seen the construction that I see on the trans sl2h's.

Bodies are typically 1 3/4" or so and the piece of maple used for the neck doesnt need to be much more then half that, so they add body wood underneath to get the required thickness. Pretty sure this is the case.

I bought it used from GC used for 999$ I made damned sure the sales person inspected the guitar headstock to strap button. he said it was almost immaculate
