They're just regular old EMG's. An 81 and an 85. Marketeering genius though... I always bought them because they came with the long-shaft pots and they were cheaper than buying an 81 and an 85 separately. :dunno:
As far as the guitar, if you like it, that's what counts!
Personally I'm kinda disappointed not because you bought an Epiphone but because after a lot of hot debate about the merits of USA Jacksons vs. Import Jacksons... You bought an Epiphone.

Dude, I just bought a DK1 today. Doesn't that kinda make up for it? LMAO!!!!
For the record, that guitar gets very good reviews. I've always felt that the higher end Epi's are damn good guitars, some would say better than Gibson's. I've got two USA Jacksons, that Epi and a Peavey HP Special which is a killer guitar. That's not a bad collection.2011 Charvel Aqua Wildcard #4

True on #3, the pro line necks are thinner and because of that i think the guitars don't sound as good as a USA. They are thin sounding...
They are nice enough but imo the tone was not as good on the pros that i have owned, and besides the carpal tunnel inducing thin necks that is what made me get rid of them. Also i believe they were made out of poplar - but i know USA's were for a time as well.
When i got a USA it was instantly noticeable, also a thicker neck "should be" more sturdy and more resistant to weather changes.
I think that in itself makes a more sturdy guitar in that respect.

the pro's i was refering too were 90's pro's. all three the necks were considrably thinner than a usa select. way thinner, felt like they were no much thicker than plywood.
i guess todays imports are considered pro's as well, but when i hear pro i automatically think 90's pro's.

Used guitars are always a great deal, regardless of what guitar you're talking about, because they hold their value for the most part unless you really abuse the hell out of it.
As for Jackson's imported guitars not being as durable as the USA models...I'm not so sure about that. I think that is probably true of their made in Korea and India products. But their MIJ products are all very well made. Especially their upper end MIJ models.
That being said, the typical selling price of certain used USA models (Soloist mostly) sell for about the price of the top tier MIJ models that are new. In that case I'd definitely suggest going for the USA model. It's not a huge difference, but it is a a little difference.
Also, if you can't find a used USA model at the price you want, you may want to check ebay and look at some Jackson Stars models, which are like ultra high quality made in Japan models.
