I have to dissagree, there are plenty of us out there who prefer 22 over 24. I don't think you're getting anything less but rather just a different feel with 22 frets. I don't see any reason why they couldn't offer at least on model, It would be great for those of us 22 fans not to have to go the custom shop route.

They do offer one model with 22 frets, the Rhoads. For every one guy that is complaining about not having more models with 22 fret options, there are 50 guys complaining about the Rhoads not having a 24 fret option.

I swear there must be a HUGE pile of 22 fret fretboards at Jackson and thought there would only be one way to get rid of them. " If they like the Rhoads enough, then they're willing to help us get rid of these boards."

back to the original question. Why do we no longer have the SL4? because the sales sucked, no body wanted a 22 fret guitar when they could have a 24 fret one.
Also since the dr2 and the rr2 are pretty hard to find, I don't think the sales were that great for those either back in 97.
Why would you want less on a guitar? The only 22 fret bolton guitar that I have ever played that had good lower fret access was a gunslinger.

Somebody measure it! You know when I bought mine 20 years ago the guy selling it to me told me it was. I never measured it... Now I can't.

The 22-fret Charvels I have are pretty good upper-fret-access wise, but yeah, on the DK1's and other 24-fret guitars, it's not the 24 frets I like, it's the upper fret access.

I'll put it this way... I wouldn't be majorly surprised to find that it is 25.5" because of how it felt, but the guy I bought it from was a dealer, pretty knowledgeable generally, and I swear he told me it was short scale. :dunno:

That's why I wanted someone to measure one.

I think if you're really looking for a 22 fret guitar at this point you're being sort of nit picky. I don't believe it effects the overall sound as much as pickup/amp/wood choice but that's imo of course. I don't understand why you wouldn't want a 24 fret guitar just to make the 22nd fret just that much more accessible even if you didn't even touch the 24th. I guess I'm stubborn because of how much I like the feel on 24 fret guitars though so take what I say with a grain of salt.

The did make a H/H 22-fret import Soloist some years back, it was the SL4. I don't think it sold very well. There's always the Mark Morton Dominion which is import.

And there was also the USA SLATQH some years back that's discontinued. It was available with either two humbuckers, two P-90s or two mini-humbuckers.

Like mentioned before the SLATQH is 22 fret and 25.5 scale . The other USA Select is the SLS 22 fret and 24.75 scale .

Nope, it's a dinky a 15/16 to a strat instead of the normal 7/8.

You used to be able to get DK1s in 22 or 24 fret configurations. It's too bad you can't anymore.
