A lot of people put the 85 in the bridge and the 81 in the neck. I know I prefer them that way, too.

I think you got a good deal mainly because the headstock looks like it's delaminating.

That's a small blem not something that's going to really hurt value. I'm sure it's an easy fix. The guitar is spotless otherwise as you can see.

But that's one of the worse cases of de-lam I've seen, it WILL hurt the resale value (it already did by about $400 or so, but you'll probably come out pretty good if you sell) and it's not a particularly easy fix, it requires a refinish on the headstock.

I have no problems with it dude. It's in new condition with case. I'd rather have a small cosmetic blem than something nicked, scatched or dented and/or requiring a major setup. That's what's you're going to find in a $850 DK1. That could probably be sold 1000-1100 in that condition. Small effect on value, yes, but nowhere near $400 - that's insane.

Well, I'm just basing it on what things sell for, you know. Like a trans finish DK1 MIGHT sell for $1300. It got bid up to less than $900... If someone wanted it for $1100, it would have sold for that. :dunno:

It sold for 907 on THAT day.

I paid 850 on another day. I believe it would fetch 1000+ on yet another day or in a private sale.

FYI, I bought my trans green SL2H a few months ago with no flaws for 1125. So I think your 1300 estimate is a bit high in the current market. Of course people still ask too much for them as you'll see on Ebay. Realistic sales are in the 1100 range.

No, I was not a bidder or a buyer on that auction. I asked what you bid though to see if you might have been a victim of the classic shill. You know, the seller bids his own auction up to get your maximum shown, then "acts like the winner can't pay" and offers it to you for your highest bid.

The Soloists? About... 4 months? Paid less than MAP but not a ton... It's hard to bargain much when you're special-ordering though, not like "Well you've had that for a long time because it's ugly, and I don't even want it, but I GUESS I could give you $1000 for it..."
