Anyone ever add a pickguard to a Soloist?

I know how lame the idea sounds, but read on.... I seem to have a permanent "gig" playing the national anthem for an event every year. So I'm thinking about adding an American flag pickguard or decal to the white SL2H:



And again, it would be a temporary thing. That's also why I'm leaning toward a non-permanent solution like a decal of some type because it'll always have little screw holes if I go with a pickguard.

Suggestions?

Great idea! Now to find a pickguard that'll fit an SL2H....

I would tie a nice satin flag near the headstock like Jimi used to hang a scarf on there. It'll float around and it's gonna be way cooler than some sticker .

I've seen it done, and it looks like utter @ss.

Find yourself a used USA Select Soloist with the US flag graphic - they offered it for several years, as recently as a few years ago. So they're out there, you just have to find one.

I'll give you a hint of advice, that SL2H is amazing, do not RUIN IT, do shreddermons idea.

You can get print-yer-own window decals (ar at least you could a few years back) as well as sticker paper (full sheet, the whole thing's a giant sticker).



Took 5 sheets to do that and didn't look half bad IMO. They're thick, too, so you can remove them without scraping.

Since the guitar is white, you could go with the window decals to do the red and blue, and the printer would leave the white stripes and stars empty.

They have that plastic stuff, it sticks via static electricity I think? Or some kind of low-tack adhesive.

Or one of those guitar skin things.

Don't drill holes in it.

I did it with a Canadian flag. I found a nice one that fits onto an antenna and was made of nylon. It was also about 7 inches by 20 so my guitar was hung like an elephant. Plus it doesn't get in the way so that's cool.

+1 on this. My brother has one on his Razorback, and it's quite cool without having to be permanent. They have a lot of American flag types.
