  • I have a Randy Rhoads guitar from 1980's

Can someone help me figure out which model it is and when it was produced.

On the fretboard is stamped - RR 0608

    It has a Kahler Bridge.

    No bolt on neck.

    Wow, that's a 1984 San Dimas Rhoads.

You should sell it to me cheap!

              Thanks everyone.

              Not looking to sell.

I have another question about the body construction.

It looks like, not only is the guitar and neck one piece but the neck is 3 strips of wood that run into the body that has about 6 strips of wood that make up the V.

I can see this because you can see the paint crack lines in the back.

I didnt know the necks werent a solid strip of wood. Am I seeing that right. Three long strips make up the neck?

              Thanks.

Yep. it's a 3 piece neck, and if you look closely, you'll probably see that the headstock is 5 pieces. Very common, but an old school construction that they don't do anymore.

Yes, the 3-piece neck is how they were made up until 1985 or early 1986. Then they switched to 1 piece necks like today.

Sounds weird if the body is made of 6 strips of wood. But anything was possible back then. Even Gibson Explorers and some V's had this construction. If the paint is in good shape and orginal, it'd be a keeper in my book.

Except for the signature Mark Morton Dominion... you'll get a nice 3-piece mahogany neck!

I love multi-laminate necks. Assuming we mean maple spaced out with strips of purple heart/bubinga/rosewood etc. Makes for a tough neck and it looks pretty too.

                        And the Kevin Bond,

And mostly any ESP or Ibanez. These companies use laminate necks.

In this case, we're talking about three pieces of the same wood, either maple or mahogany.
