Hi Guys just an update on this old thread.

The Story:

The Jackson went back to Richtone they sent it on to Fender.
Fender said it was not economical to repair and sent out a new one from their warehouse in Holland.

Now... I was a little worried as I had not even seen a photo of it, but I need not have worried the patterning is better and it plays / sounds better than the last one.
I have set it up to my tastes and it is a cracking guitar.

Credit to Richtone who were great and Fender for a no quibble replacement. It was all sorted in just over a week.

Glad you got it sorted, with the minimum of hassle, and no bullshit. A far cry from when I got my DK1 from those clowns in Leicester (who, thankfully went bust).

Take a screw driver and run it down the back, slam the head stock into your amp, and rub off some finish where your right arm goes when playing, then it'll look like you've played it for a while and you won't care a bit about the cosmetic aspect as long as it plays and sounds great! Once you do this you won't feel bad when you put your first scratch on it (after sendding it back and someone refinishing it), cause it'll already be there! Woooo rock on! Mine has scratches, has had beer pured on it, pushed into amps, mics, etc, and handled by women! Thats why its called metal!

Good question, I wondered about that myself.
At first it was a case of send it to Fender in the UK for assessment, I imagined they would have repair, inspection and set up facilities there. However, the word simply came back that it was not economical to make good, so I assume bigger jobs like refinishing a whole guitar needs to be done in the US factory.

It must have been a quick decision, as the next one came from Holland to Richtone and then to me. Time from my guitar being seen by Fender and getting a replacement was within a week in total only about ten days without the guitar, which I think is pretty good considering the to-ing and fro-ing around Europe.

Just thought I would let everyone know that Jackson/Fender sorted it properly.

Some of us don't pay a few grand for something looking like shit, that it ends up like that after a serious, distinguished and hopefully long career is another matter, but then we're not talking about a new expensive guitar anymore

Good news indeed. I am especially impressed that they managed to find an alternative guitar in the same finish so quickly.
