The guitar is gonna get bumped, scratched and worn as he plays it.
I gave up on trying to keep mine pristine. I take good care of them, but shit happens.

Thanks for the pics Lake...I really appreciate it...your axe is looking more and more like mine...I guess I do need to stop obsessing...I'm definitely going to check for the screws through the body (under the springs)...ah...maybe not...I could see myself looking at that and having a full blown panic attack.
And don't worry RJ...I play a lot more than I worry...but when I'm not playing, I still have to do something. Usually it's something productive...but when it's not, it's worrying. There's plenty of great medication out there for this...I just refuse...I like being a little dysfunctional
Thanks again, guys for the posts....I'm really starting to think, now, that I did get a killer deal. I, too, think some of these things shouldn't be present on a $2K + guitar...but as was said...it looks amazing, plays amazing, and sounds amazing...so I'll stop now...that is, of course, unless I find some other useless thing to worry about

Regarding the screws coming through in the trem cavity, I recently bought a PRS Experience (basically a limited edition Custom 24) and all six of the trem mount screws protrude through the wood in the trem cavity. Seems odd that they wouldn't spec the guitars with screws a bit shorter. I guess my point is that this kind of stuff can be on any high-end guitar. Heck, for all I know maybe Paul wants them to be that way for some reason.

It's hard to call it digs or scratches...it just looks unfinished...or like some glue dropped on top of it...hard to describe. But the whole in the sustainer is definitely there on mine. Lake's got the same guitar with the same "blemishes"...so knowing that, I can't really call them blemishes anymore. I agree with the post, though, regarding the p'up screws being too long. Mine are protruding slightly as well...had I not seen this thread, I probably really would've been worried that there was a defect. But I'm talking to more and more people who see this...so...once again...not a blemish if it's a common thing. But they should be spec'd out better...Unless the screws protruding were setup that way for functionality reasons...(which I can't really see)...it just seems like a bad oversight. Then again...does it really affect the sound of the guitar...negatively or positively...can't really say. Mine sounds great, so what more could you want.
I did start a thread the other day, and no one answered...so while I'm not trying to hijack this one, hopefully someone will reply. I have the same exact guitar (as evidenced by some pictures a few posts up)...I don't know what to use to clean/maintain this type of wood/finish. Can I use regular guitar polish. Then on the neck, is there anything special I should be using to clean this. I've heard things like "gun oil"...as well as some other ideas..but that seems a little strange to me.
Any suggestions would really help me out.

Keeps the grime out of the grain and makes it smell nice too.
Seriously... this stuff is great.
I've been using it on my PC1 since 2005 and the top still looks new.
Rub it on with a soft cloth, let it set for a few minutes and then wipe it down.
