ANYWAY!

If I have the cash for a KV2 by the time he's over there I'll go for that one and a flight case. Otherwise it'll be the KV5 and a flight case(unless the case you get with would make it?)
It's really worth it getting a flight case, huh? And if the customs get to my friend he'll take off the tags and stuff just incase.

He could say that he got the guitar a month before going on vacation and couldn't live without his guitar(who can?). That'll explain the guitar's pristine condition.

Algeriet, like I wrote earlier, my guitars all survived the transportation in the original hardshell cases, but a flight case would of course be more safe. It's a matter of risk versus cost, same thing with customs. About that, just remove everything that screams new guitar, i.e., hang-tag, receipt, etc.

I would say get an ATA case somehow and send it in that...

In the past i've sent mine with the luggage, but those were usually in ATA Flightcases (Gator, Jackson). I've sent one through with a regular hardshell Gator and it came back beat up (but the guitar was fine)

Cover it in fragile stickers (or paint fragile on the sides) and load it on.
